    ARCA and IB help !

As others have noted in spring of 2001 IB changed its ARCA route to only send PNP orders. With listed stocks you also have to keep in mind that ARCA participates in CQS/ITS and thus is not allowed to cross or lock other exchanges quotes. Therefore you won't have much success trying to sweep ETFs...

Hotkeys behavior in new IB version

Of course, clearing the dialog box and then pressing cursor down followed by cursor up will regain row focus, but this takes a lot of time and does not recover lost keyboard input. So why for heaven's sake aren't you willing to finally fix this bug?? I simply can't believe that after a full year...

Hotkeys behavior in new IB version

While you're at it, could you please finally fix the row focus clearing bug that's been around for over a year now? This has been complained about so many times but keeps getting ignored. Whenever there's a partial or full execution in TWS the order or market data line that has input focus...

    IB's Data Feed Sucks

In addition to being obvious to the observer this was announced and confirmed recently by an IB rep on their discussion boards.

    IB's Data Feed Sucks

To clear up a few things: IB's feed for stocks is not ticky by tick but a snapshot feed updating approcimately once per second. Their Globex feed (NQ, ES etc.), however, recently has been upgraded to a tick by tick feed. It's lightning fast and constantily significantly ahead of qcharts and...

    Vol Plays Before Earnings

Ever since the introduction of Reg FD horizontal volatility skew between front and back month expirations has increased markedly as stocks approach their earnings reporting dates. This provides many opportunities to set up calendar spreads with great risk/reward attributes.

    Attention ETF Traders

Unless you send a PNP order ARCA will preference your order out to other exchanges (NYSE, AMEX, regionals, Nasdaq Intermarket dealers) if they display superior prices to what is available on the book. PNP orders won't let you actively cross the market though. Instinet may be your best choice as...

Because ARCA doesn't work like ISLD. Sometimes it pays to RTFM before donating your money.

    Supermontage starts on Monday

Why? ISLD and INCA don't participate in SuperMontage. Unlike SuperSoes SuperMontage is not aware of the quotes of non-participating ECNs and exchanges and thus won't reject orders when only non-SM participants are at the inside as SuperSoes did.

    EBAY not available to short@IB?

You just have to find out how to use the bugs in their system to your advantage and you'll never have to worry about short availability anymore. IB even lets you short the UPC list up and down...

    Supermontage starts on Monday

Pretty much all ECNs except for ISLD and INCA are participating in SM. ISLD will be quoting as a UTP participant through the Cincinatti Stock Exchange (CINN) and INCA is quoting through Nasdaq's ADF. Market participants quotes which are quoting on ADF (so far only INCA) are aggregated and...

    Attention ETF Traders

As far as listed trading the PACX and ARCA are the same thing since ARCA merged with the PSE a while ago. The PACX CQS quote represents the inside quotes of the ARCA book. Even if ARCA should surpass 5% of overall volume in an ETF it won't have its quotes shut down as it participates in CQS and...

    Instinet Routing

I've moved most of my Nasdaq trading from ISLD to INCA over the past year which has resulted ina markedly improved quality of fills. This is primarily due to the fact that unlike on ISLD you are not constantly being frontrun and leaned on by non-displayed orders priced tenths of a cent ahead of you.

    Trading FROM offshore

That won't help if there's no tax treaty. In that case withholding at the 30% rate by the broker is mandatory. AFAIK your firm won't even open an account for a customer if withholding would be required. dave

    Arca Fix Lousy Execution Speeds

Using REDI for odd lots is an even worse idea than ARCA since if the odd lot ends up on REDI's book due to lack of other odd-lot accepting liquidity pools within your price limit REDI will only match it with other incoming odd lot orders regardless of price. As far as using ISLD for...

    Don's Opening's Journal....

The correct divisor is the SPX cash + FV offset. Using just SPX cash is logically inconsistent considering that the FV differential that is divided through is derived from SPX cash + FV as base value. Remember that FV does not change during the day and the market relation is in euqilibrium...

    IB multicurrency accounts and taxes

Looks like we did touch on a weak spot here. Now all of a sudden IB UK starts requiring people to submit IRS form W-8BEN. That means that unlike what def suggested above they are definitely not registered as foreign financial intermediaries with the IRS. Dave

    New IB Customer Agreement

Def, that's great news. However, to make fractional cent pricing really useful it needs to be accompanied by a configurable option in TWS that allows an offset value to be set (e.g. 0.0011) that is automatically applied to the price of every limit order (added for buys, subtracted for sells)...
