I originally did the reversal trade to help hedge losses from the breakout trades. That's why I only trade it on days when the breakout trades are active. Thursday's trade was an unforseen result of having a bias at times. The bias trades don't happen very often, though.

    stop loss determination

I've done lots of tests on stops. On the tests for stops with a loss I found little difference in overall profits based on where a stop was placed. With tighter stops the percent of winners dropped but the winners made way more money than the losers. With looser stops the percent of winners went...

Well, here's your clue. The breakout points were loosened (as it normally does to prevent getting stuck in range-bound markets), so that no breakout trades were taken. The day to trade scan sometimes provides a bias so that you only take trades in one direction. Yesterday it had a bias to only...

Here's the results of the ER2 with my money management applied so far this month. Is it any surprise I'd want to start using this model? It's currently long so I'll have to wait until it goes flat before trading it.

I've been checking the past years trading frequency and so far this year's is the lowest in the past 10 years. I should have had at least 5 trading days by now but I've only had 2. I have other models I've been tracking and just waiting for the right time to add one to my trading. It appears...

Day 12 No trades today. (unfortunately) For Monday 1/23 No trades. This journal has helped me refrain myself from jumping in, but trading has been really boring this year.

I think you have me confused with someone else. My preparation time was much longer and I started with a six figure account. Also my profits from trading last year net of commissions were 318k not 18k as you suggested. Take care, 43yotrader

    Flat out 2006

No trade today means the filter that decides what days to trade has indicated today is not likely to be a strong directional day. Therefore no trading for any of the 3 models will take place. Of course there is plenty of trading going on. Just not with these models and not for this journal...

Daytraders: Limit Order Vs. Market Order

As a mecha trader, the only entry and stop loss method that makes any sense for me is the stop order. I use market orders only to exit from a winning trade. I tried limit orders for entry and found limit means "limit your chances of participating in the best moves". Never again will I use...
