What style of trading would you teach your son?

I’d have him intern with @destriero

    Expectancy formula

You guys are doing this backwards. Start with a trading strategy. A simple example would be: “if stock has a beat and raise, buy at open the next day, hold for the quarter”. If I conduct the analysis across spx stocks I may observe a positive return by doing this trade. That is positive...

Are options a waste of time and money? (pun intended)

Yes we are all just vibrations of strings in the 10th dimension. That does not mean knowing the difference between a mountain and a landing strip is useless. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Are options a waste of time and money? (pun intended)

Is this a joke? The probability of a profit indicator is useless, as is rsi lol, no one uses them. You’re still learning and at this point know much less than a 16yr old floor clerk interning with a local. If you look at an atm option today it’s priced at 50d. If you have a view on the stock...

Are options a waste of time and money? (pun intended)

OP you don’t sound like a trader. People I know who trade options successfully are not talking about “premium”, covered calls, punting 0dte, etc., they’re talking about buying on credit/debit, convexity/concavity of the trade, the term structure of vol, long or short gamma, charm, etc...

Are options a waste of time and money? (pun intended)

Yo I think it’s fair to be frustrated with your trading performance or experience. However, vol trading is probably one of the juiciest sectors from a strategy standpoint. You’re right that few people get it, but those that do, are doing pretty well (though very few of those people are...

The US is now in recession

I'm very tactical so can't really comment on anything longer than a few days. With that being said, I do think the signs point to an improving equity outlook driven by positive revisions to the economic outlook. Personally, I'm also in the bearish camp. However, there's little evidence...

The US is now in recession

Yield curve can be inverted if inflation is expected to fall quickly. Bond guys are no longer pricing cuts for this year, growth risk is being added back which has caused recent steepening in the yield curve. The no landing / soft landing camp is gaining steam.

They got the maths all wrong...

Nothing is wrong with questioning or asking for clarification... but some humility won't hurt either!

They got the maths all wrong...

If you set x = mu you’ll get it. It’s a labeling issue, the y axis is /sigma

They got the maths all wrong...

The height of the mode in a normal distribution is approx 0.4/sigma.

The most efficient method of trading

In Wall Street parlance these glitches are called “market anomalies” and explain the difference between the actual trading data vs a hypothesized model (like efficient market hypothesis). Practically all professional trading strategies are rooting in systematically extracting the returns from...

Sharing my notes from a millionaire fx group.

Absolute garbage lol. Don’t bother reading unless you are easily impressed with statements like “I know someone who went from $500 to $5mm” or “trailing stop and mindset is the key to success”. “Pyramiding” is adding to winners lol.

What to know about trading stocks

Depends on what your source of alpha or edge is. Some strategies are tied to an arbitrage which is super systematic. Other strategies are discretionary, which is very bayesian. The type of analysis and reaction sequence is largely dependent upon the type of strategy.

Laziness- the main ingredient of economic Socialism

You have evidence of this? Most advanced economies today are mixed democratic-socialist. True laissez faire is probably closer to Yemen or Afghanistan lol.
