    Index futures or SPY options??

I traded options on the SPY for at least two years. I'm now very recently trading the e-mini ES. I have given up on SPY options simply because their values are so affected by the direction of the $VIX. There is also the greeks to analyze as well. So, not only do you have to watch the SPY chart...

    SSTO 5,3 for ES?

What do you guys think of Ira Epstein's slow stochastic setting of 5,3 for futures? He uses it on day charts of index futures. Should I use this setting and may I use this setting in different time frames, or do you have to change the settings? He explains it in this video...

    ES hours in EST

I'm trying to understand e-mini S&P trading hours in EST. OK, regular DAY hours would be 9:30 AM to 4:15 PM (CLOSED) then, reopens @ 4:30 PM, but closes again @ 5:30 PM, then reopens @ 6:00 PM [then closes @ 4:15 PM next day]. I do not plan holding "overnight" positions. I will close...

Can you day-trade the ES using realtime $SPX charts?

I'm practice trading ES using the X_Trader simulation from Global Futures and don't want to purchase a dedicated charting program, (yet). I want to see if I enjoy doing this and build up my skills on the MD trader. Thanks for all your help =)

I have a StockCharts.com RT sub. They do not have futures data, but their $SPX updates in realtime w/ intraday data. Just curious, thanks!

    Q: Es @ Ib

thx Lucrum, I just got this email... Dear Trader, The margin required to put on one ES will be 6,188 and to maintain that position will be 4,950 USD. The cash doubles with each subsequent contract purchase. When it states 68,000 as margin it is taken the full value of the contract...

    Q: Es @ Ib

Thank you Magna, Do I require more besides the initial margin requirement of six thousand, or does this cover the purchase price as well. In other words, do I need the 6K margin, plus cash to purchase 1 ES and then possibly some cash left over so losses do not dip into my margin. Also...

    Q: Es @ Ib

How much cash do you need in your IB margin account to buy and sell 1 ES contract. And does this cash requirement double with each subsequent contract purchase. I find the preview order feature very nice, but when I preview an ESH9 order, I get confused cause it says something like $68,000...
