    IQ and trading

It took me like 30 seconds to figure out the pattern for the letters and the pattern for the numbers. Not because my IQ is above 150, but because I've seen similar questions before and had a general idea what to look for. That's why I think IQ scores are a bit misleading and that's how...

    IQ and trading

What? It's one thing to screw up an answer for an IQ test, but did this guy screw up the QUESTION?

    What's your favorite bird?

For me the positions are basically the same. The butterfly is just a condor with the shorts set at the same strike. I think the main reason people prefer the iron condor over a butterfly is to keep the shorts OTM and reduce exercise risk.

    What's your favorite bird?

Strangles and straddles? Is your account margined 3X the amount for these trades as compared to butterflies and condors, or is it just mine?

    success rate for option traders?

I follow what you're saying. Options seem more complex and therefore not as "easy" as stocks, so the average (unsophisticated) investor will shy away from options. That's a tough question to answer, but it seems logical that a sophisticated investor who puts in the necessary time to learn...

    Mechanics of trade entry

I try to leg in with iron condors and double diagonals, but I find it difficult to track my success. I know the market usually hits my price target, but sometimes it moves against me and I end up paying a little more. Without keeping a journal with exact details of the price when entering...

    options mentoring

I agree with a good mentoring program speeding up your learning process, but I think that it's extremely important to read, read, and then read some more before you spend the $ on a program. If you don't read and study first, you don't know what you don't know, and it's hard to ask intelligent...

    High volatility Strangles

I disagree. ICs look pretty good right now (I reserve the right to completely change my mind if the market has another Sep/Oct like decline, though). Calendars, on the other hand, are taking a beating in current market conditions. July was a little rough, too. But you didn't expect to make...

Never mind, Mark. I see you answered a similar question in your blog. Still scratching my head, though.

Volatility implosion. So whats the outlook

Historical data is nice to look at, but if you want to compare apples to apples, it seems like a chart that shows the December volatitly in '90, '98, '01 and '02 would offer more insight into our current situation. Even then, current events overshadow those four brutal years.

Volatility implosion. So whats the outlook

I still have mine open. Since I'm centered on my profit graph, I see no reason to close the position. Should I reconsider? Is it always right to lock in profits?
