So what is Microsoft doing with shareholder value?

You're picking a convenient date to make a point. 2 bubbles have popped in 10 years. Instead of using the highs of Jan '99 as you're starting point, why not use the lows of Feb '99? Why not move forward a little, just 1 year, to Feb '00. NDX has dropped 74%, MSFT has dropped 63%.

So what is Microsoft doing with shareholder value?

You are aware the S&P is down almost that much in the same time period, no? I won't mention how much NASDAQ is down.

    My Option On Dow 6,000

Plus the OP is able to construct a coherent sentence, something 75% of the members on ET can't figure out.

    My Option On Dow 6,000

I don't know about you, but I really don't get any satisfaction from playing a psychic. I would rather skip the pat on the back and go directly to making a profit. How do you intend to profit from your analysis? There are several option strategies that allow you to realize substantial...

10 Billion Spent On Combating Marijuana? Lmfaoo!?

I don't care for the stuff myself, but I'm all for decriminalizing it now and legalizing and taxing it later.

    BAC Rats are jumping ship...

They say Thain amassed over $300 million in GS stock almost a decade ago. This guy was wealthy long before Merrill Lynch and B of A. Greed is a prerequisite for bankers.

APPLE may be cut again to half??

Is that how you base your stock picks? I had the first iPhone. I wasn't impressed (actually, I was a little annoyed). I bought my kids iPods because they HAD to have them. I didn't buy or sell based on either of those facts. And in your opinion, what exactly does have hype?

APPLE may be cut again to half??

And for the OP, considering halving their current price takes the stock's value all the way back to Aug '05 values, I'd say yes. It's certainly possible. But they're supposed to have a lot of cash and very little debt. I don't have the exact numbers. Anybody have a credible link?

Irish Tycoon Found Dead, Suicide Suspected

It's probably just a bad picture. But I don't like the thin, painted on eye brows and high forehead...and adam's apples...OH SHIT! It is a dude!

From the trenches? The mall? Damn, it must be tough in China.

BAC insider buying FAKE OUT-stock is worthless

Possible, but unfortunately, very few people know for sure. I'd say right now even the insiders aren't 100% sure what's going to happen in the near future.

APPLE may be cut again to half??

I'm not sold on AAPL. The company is all about fashion. Everyone else is buying one, so the sheeple buy one. That mentality comes and goes, especially in current market conditions. They posted solid numbers today and that's great, but let's see how the next few quarters go. If this...

    IBM erases today's losses

AAPL and EBAY look like they beat estimates, too. Might see the VXN drop another 7 points tomorrow. I'll take it.

    IBM erases today's losses

IBM led the way today. Investors were a little too optimistic in my opinion, but as long as we keep trading in this range, I'm content.

    CNBC/CNBC World or Bloomberg

CNBC is all noise and fluff. It's entertainment. Bloomberg is an improvement, but it seems there is an agenda behind every story. You can say that about every news organization I suppose.

Some guy bought a bunch of GE puts for 5,10 sold 7.50

You've lost me. It looks like you would need about 70K contracts to equal $288K cost. Are you looking at sprdbook with TOS?

    Banks market cap

Yes. An accurate comparison requires a simple bar chart. Apparently, the genius behind the graph didn't pass 8th grade math. You don't add diameters to calculate the volume of a circle. Using Citi as an example, 225 of the small green circles are needed to fill the big blue circle. Last...

    BAC dividend is 17.80 %

Actually, uh, they just cut the dividend. On a related subject, Citi cut its dividend to 1 cent, which coincidentally still works out to a 17.8% dividend yield for C shareholders.

Do You Think Trading is Gambling?

I think this covers at least 95% of day traders: Gamble Definition: To engage in any activity in which money is put at risk for the purpose of making a profit, and which is characterized by some or most of the following (in approximately descending order of importance): little or no...
