When I used Sterling I would call them directly for tech help and they would actually talk to me. This was a little while back so I am not sure if they are still doing that but it's worth a shot. They can probably send you a list of what each one means.
Overall I think we will see a neutral to positive data on earnings this quarter. Alcoa was a good indication. Nothing to jump for joy over but I think most Analysts are low balling to save there own asses.
IMO commissions play a huge factor but still very difficult because it's purely a gamble and can move against you very quickly erasing a months worth of gains in a single trade.
First thing you want to do is check the state regulations. Some places want you to register as an advisor regardless of size. If you can do it without your licences don't just drop them, put them on hold and see how the first year goes. I know I wouldn't want to take that test again. Good...
1969 is as far back as you can go just about anywhere. At least that I am familiar with. Yahoo finance will go back to "69". Short of calling the NYSE or going to the library and getting the news paper I am not really sure. Good luck though.
