Is there a benefit to paper trading?

How do you trade commission free and have direct access? ___ Not saying this is what you are doing because I do not know, but trading free trades on say a banks retail platform can almost never end well. The execution is too slow and best prices are often not obtained because orders do not go...

Is there a benefit to paper trading?

Since you are trading live, you should ask yourself: What is my edge (do I have positive expectancy on my trades)? How do I know this? REALLY. None of the things you mention will make you a winner if you do not have positive expectancy on your trades. _____ All of that said, some people try...

Is this seriously what trend traders do?

True of many posters. However, when it comes to definitions, especially in technical areas, I try not to roll my own.

Is this seriously what trend traders do?

Successful trend followers are not almost entering randomly. However, If everyone agreed on a great trend following system with the exact same set of rules, that exact system would stop working.

    Research on day trading

Day trading stocks is not close to being a zero sum game and that is one key reason so few people have been able to make a good living doing it. In a zero sum game, if one player loses a dollar another player (or the other players collectively) must have won a dollar. In daytrading, an...

Anyone reading Ray Dalio's new book, Principles?

. Not nearly the same book, though explaing his principles is a common theme between the two. The earlier publication was based primarily on internal communication to his hedgefund employees about his overarching ideas, that had already been leaked. Anyway.. no skin off of my nose if no...

    "Rogue" traders who made billions...?

Some of the Rouge traders actually started out winning big and then losing it all. I suspect some rouge traders did leap out to a win and then risk control caught up with them and well; publicity, here, might not be desirable for the firm or the trader. For far less than billions, sometimes...

Anyone reading Ray Dalio's new book, Principles?

Good find! However, having read both, I must say: They are nowhere close to the same book The new book is a summary of his life's learning, his views on life and money, practical advice, as well as his life's story and adventures. This is a major work as well as an expanded and updated...

16 year old new to trading

Oh.. wait.. I happen to know several world class games players with nothing else going for them who landed trading jobs and were rather quickly trading large sums, but I would not plan on this route. Sesqhanna has all their new traders learn and play poker. One year they sent a group of traders...

Is this seriously what trend traders do?

I see why it was looking like we had differing views and was puzzled. I was writing about daytrading US equities, except for my specific paragraph about longer. Nevertheless, I look forward to reading some of your work.

16 year old new to trading

I only know what I read and what a billionaire founder of an international trading firm trading only it's own money has told me. You are entitled to your feelings but I am done with you on this topic. Thanks for your input.

Is this seriously what trend traders do?

It has been my understanding that daytrading US stocks with random entries, after costs and slippage, would not be profitable. But I will look into this more. Thanks for the work you are putting into this thread.
