    DSL and cable

Downstream speed is more important. The only really important uploading is used for is to send orders...those orders are very small. Even a 56K modem would be fast enough for you to send out orders. On the other hand, download bandwidth is needed for all your datafeed like quotes and charts...

    Cable VS DSL

I dont NEED the extra speed. All Im saying is...if Im going to pay extra $50 a month, I dont want to use it JUST for backup....Im saying, it would be nice to be able to somehow get better performance as well as have it as backup.

Update on my experiences with WorldCo

Pervious post is somewhat true..but not 100% true. Yes..Wldc has some minimum capital balance they want you to keep eventually. But they dont take 100% of your profits until that amount is met. They will pay you part of your profits while you are building up your capital balance. I would...

    Cable VS DSL

I have no freaking clue as to what you're talking about! I just want a internet backup..that's all! It shouldnt be that difficult to do! yes - there are many places which can fail...Im just trying to cover as many bases as possible. In 3 1/2 years of trading, I have not experienced my PC...

    Cable VS DSL

If I plugged in 2 network cards and had DSL and cable...with Win2000, would that give me load balanced and back-up capable system? I wasn't sure if it wold be load-balanced or if I had to specifiy which service all the data would use (until one crashes). I use my main trading PC as the only PC...

    Cable VS DSL

How about this idea? If you are simply interested in a backup system, why not have 2 network cards in your PC, connect one to DSl, the other to cable....and then run them simulatnaeously? If one goes down, the other is still connected. Wouldnt that work? Just run them 24/7 together. This...

    Cable VS DSL

My idea of 2 services is to get a DSL service from one company and a cable service from another...2 totally different companies with 2 totally speartae backbones and infrastructure. I figure that is the only way to have a true backup. I think between the Nextland router, Compex router and...

    Trailing Stops

Trailing stops is an incredibly diffiuclt art to master I think. On of our top traders use a flat 30 cetns stop loss from where he bought the stock..ALWAYS. No questions asked no matter what stock he is trading. (He trades multiple positions at once like..30 to 100 - dont ask me how). And...

    Cable VS DSL

Nitro & metoo....Thanks for wasting my time reading through your "Got off the on a tangent" posts....It WAS very interesting, however - Im now thinking of moving to Freeport myself! Im not sure if my firm will let me trade offshore. I dont think they will. Anyway....... I just came across...

    Cable VS DSL

There is another cheaper method of hardware load balancing from the followng: http://www.cpx.com/proddetail_b.asp?c=Broadband%20Routers&e=49 This product, you actually have to buy 2 (but each only costs about $60 - $70) but it has a fucntion which allows load balancing AND a backup feature...

    Cable VS DSL

I just read the review of the Nextland router that allows using DSL and cable as backup while load balancing the 2 services. This router is the perfect answer to my problem for daytrading..or so I thought. There were many posts about how it freezes and such. Seems there are plenty of...

    Cable VS DSL

I started with a $300/month business Road Runner. Then decided I didnt wanna spend/need the extra speed for the money...so I changed to Road Runner residential service. for $45/month. I had no problems for months until, one day, there was a problem with Road Runner and went down at the worst...

Stock Halt--What happens between halt and dehalt?

    LOL.....I see now. Interesting strategy.

Stock Halt--What happens between halt and dehalt?

Right...so that means you had to be fast enough to buy the stock BEFORE the stock ripped for few $$$. How were you able to buy the stock before it had its run?

    Software platform for Bright

I have to say...the platforms available at retail firms like CyberTrader and many others, usually have much better execution systems. Generic and Bright use REDiPlus, Andover uses something called The Hammer, Worldco uses the lowly Belzberg (along with Twoensed, IDI-DOT and REDIPlus). None of...

Stock Halt--What happens between halt and dehalt?

Dustin....Explain waht you mean by your post...Dont you have to have the stock first before you can sell it (or vice versa)? That means you had to be able to get in ont he stock BEFORE the halt.

Stock Halt--What happens between halt and dehalt?

Better discipline would have been to dump all my shares when it went lower after I bought at $52.30 instead of buying more at $51.50. never ever add to losing positions unless you know what you're doing...Bottom picking is not for everyone.

Stock Halt--What happens between halt and dehalt?

I dont understand what you are asking. If you are talking about a typical stock hlats on NYSE, it happens because of some significant news. It can gap up or down depending on the news, of course. When a news hits the market ( a bad news, let's say), there will be tons of sell orders...

    Remote ECHO Traders

Im a remote trader at Wldc...and I pay no "monthly" charges. Everything is included in the commmission I pay. I never understood those so-called monthly charges....What's the point of paying the commission? They should calculate everything into the commission that you are paying. Simple.

    MOC Orders?

When traders talk of making money with MOC orders (as Keith Espinosa of Lion's Trading Group does ar his specialty), they are talking about MOC Imbalances - not your regular MOC orders. I mean, how do you know how the stock will print at the end? That would be a pure guess work. However, with...
