    I made $7 million USD in 2008

Keep trading, but find a really expensive hobby that will make you need to trade to keep it going. Personally, I like to hit the Impressionist auctions at Sotheby's. Buy a couple of paintings from Degas, Picasso or Renoir, and you'll feel the need to make more money to support your art habit...

    Socrates Examines Technical Strategy

Socrates, I learned how to trade wheat in the pit from some old guys who cut their teeth in the 1930's. I soaked up every bit of wisdom I could from those old guys, who knew what they were talking about. They taught me the beauty of simplicity, and the fact is that my methods are out there...

    Socrates Examines Technical Strategy

Having traded the index futures way back to the old Valu Line at the KCBOT, I've personally detected much recent dramatic change in the price action through the particular lens I'm looking through. However, I'm sure that you'll understand that I won't tell you what lens I'm using, and what...

    Socrates Examines Technical Strategy

Socrates, I keep a trading blog and have had readers get upset because I wouldn't give out trades, nor discuss any of my systems. One guy, in particular, got mad when I found a pattern in the euro that was working for about 6 weeks, and I wouldn't give it out. I tried to tell him that if I...

    Socrates Examines Technical Strategy

Plato had a good trading lesson in his Republic, Book #1 when he said, "I replied: There is nothing which for my part I like bet- ter, Cephalus, than conversing with aged men; for I regard them as travellers who have gone a journey which I too may have to go, and of whom I ought to inquire...

Lost in translation: Santelli on bonds

Actually T-Bills were auctioned off at zero and traded negative in the secondary market. The last time they traded negative was in the late 30's and early 40's according to Horner and Sylla in their book, "A History of Interest Rates." Good read, if you can find it.

    What is a trader?

I always liked Ayn Rand's definition. She said, "The symbol of all relationships among [rational] men, the moral symbol of respect for human beings, is the trader. We, who live by values, not by loot, are traders, both in matter and in spirit. A trader is a man who earns what he gets and does...

best books you've read on trading

Since everyone reads the aforementioned books, they probably become a wash. An out of print book by Bacon, "Secrets of Professional Turf Betting" provides many a market lesson. This book is available, used, on Amazon but is extremely expensive.

Who has started out with nothing, learned how to trade on their own, and now makes $?

I started out in 1973 while in High School and nailed the soybean move. I was so rich for a kid in high school. I ended up broke 5 months later, and that was the best trading lesson I ever learned. I finished school, got a seat on an exchange, and listened intently to the 80 year old traders...

Broker Where I Can Trade 100mill Per Click

Although I have doubts about the original poster's veracity, he does ask a valid question. However, since no one has discussed what speculation in FX is like at large level, I'll offer my two cents. Since deception is key, it would be advisable to have at least 10 accounts with different...
