Traders - What are your hobbies?

I am not aware of any propeller with usable efficiency that can take 300 hp at 6k rpm. If you're planning a ducted fan, lolz.

Good luck beating the p/w ratio of a normal aircraft engine with that 20b. Lots of failure modes when coolant and psru are added. -RX7 owner, ex rotary

    Trend Following + Range Trading

The idea is to let the higher order trend system do the timing between the two equity curves, the same as how the main trend system times the instrument. I can't seem to get tradestation to recognize two equity curves at the same time. Oh well. Time to move on?

If trend following, can money management save you in chop?

Thoughtful observation. These strategies are indeed, very dangerous with leverage and no hard stops, somewhere. However, the RTM trader can choose instruments which do not go to zero and always have some inherent (seasonal) volatility, such as AG commodities. I tend to believe market...

Use computerized evolution to create trading system?

These parameters which you do not mention do not change with time, form the basis of market dynamics, and are an artifact of human nature......... A good system, however, will be optimized to harness them. :D

If trend following, can money management save you in chop?

    Ewj: elliott wave

Elliot Wave sure leaves you hanging sometimes, eh? The only wave combination I've ever found to be useful is the first higher low - wave 3 or C. Everything else is sideways, more or less, in the real world.

If trend following, can money management save you in chop?

I've tried a few strategies and the scaling up / down idea didn't perform as well as just running wide open. However, I believe the real solution is to run one trend following algo on another's theoretical equity curve. Other solutions are volatility filters that switch the capital off above...

3 months of full on retard - need help

I'll respectfully disagree. If you blow out your account a few times doing what comes naturally, you may just investigate traders who make $, emulate them, and develop a plan. This process can happen in a year or less.

The curse of systems trading/Why does this happen

Lol As long as there is a signal in the market, there will be opportunity. Last I checked, 100 year old trend following techniques still work. HFT is a cop out. HFT is for traders who can't make a decision so they scalp small and fast. Easiest algo on earth to program.

    Trend Following + Range Trading

Lol Hershey reminds me of Prechter - good at marketing an obscure method that promises to unlock the hidden order to the market, yet no one can turn it into a system with hard rules which can be backtested. Speaking of, Van Tharp has a System Quality concept in his latest book, _Super...
