    Xmas Rally Has Finished.

In addition, the market checked the underside of a curve fit of all the peaks since the high....... Dow theory still says down. The last high was the final validation. :D

What to do? Whom to trust? Whom to follow? How to survive? How to do it better?

Lol Here's my simple answer: Find someone who has adapted, and learn from their behavior. Do it again with another successful adaptee. Do it again and again. Then you will have several winning behaviors you can emulate. After having this information, you will have several...

    I've noticed

I've noticed that most people only remember the few times when predictive methods work out, not when they fail. Fib levels are fun to play with, but guessing is guessing.

Good Books on Elliott Wave Theory?

And the standard text on Elliot Wave (still cited in EWI's daily updates, if you are so unfortunately subscribed): Wave Principle, by Prechter and Frost Two thirds of the book can be ignored, but the basic theory, wave characteristics, and some real world examples make it worth the few bux...

Question to anyone who bought a trading course

I agree completely. It sounds like you're describing the first real trader I learned from. I didn't want to follow his method because it didn't try to predict anything. After a year of following his updates, he was up, huge. Same style: big trend little pullbacks, also spike trading and...

Curve-fitting or just prudent trade selection?

That's a very interesting point. Great observation. I have a type 1 sytem that was trained on about 22000 data points and has 5 degrees of freedom. I changed some of the parameters and got a much better fit for the most recent 1700 data points, but the system was flat from any point before...

    Get a generator...

I really like the laptop idea. I like the idea of 2 laptops, 2 different power supplies (one for wall power and the other to run off the car battery), 2 unrelated internet connections and possibly 2 different brokers. But having a strategy that isn't as time critical might be another helper.

Curve-fitting or just prudent trade selection?

Just yesterday I re-read part of Schwager's interview with Eckhardt, and curve fitting came up. Even the master, the partner of Richard Dennis, the multimilliondollar fund manager (still in business after 30+ years) said that there is basically no way to know the difference between an...

    Questions to Jack Hershey

Jack's method is pretty easy to figure out if you have a little experience and can get through the unnecessary complexity of his language. It's basically band trading in a superposition of higher order bands (otherwise known as a fractal) with a lot of guessing based on volume, stochastics...

Observation: the market pays you for a service

Curve-fitting or just prudent trade selection?

Every profitable system is a curve fit to some degree, IMO. Some curves last for a few weeks, some a year and others forever. Dow theory still works on the daily, last time I checked. Old fashioned trend lines are still killing it on the weekly. Why do these old edges still work? Not...

Rants against Hershey and those who follow his posts

I believe the market got more difficult to trade, starting Feb. this year, because most suckerz left (Ben B's tri-weekly injections being the main one). Many brokerages had special deals by summertime to try to get more participants. They trade on hope, not statistics. You need them in the...

City On The Edge Of Forever

It will obviously be written off eventually. No other way. Considering most of that "debt" is "owed" to US citizens via medicare/caid and social security, it makes sense that the MIC has special weapons and tactics, just for urban warfare................

    WE are the 95%!

This thread could be for any profession with a high barrier to entry. First year in engineering school removed the 60% of students that didn't have the innate talent or consuming obsession, and love of the subject, to keep the fire going. Second year was a weed out fest. Third year was like...
