What is the single most important element in trading?

I loved most of the voted answers .. they're wrong! Nearest thing to 'right' is Market Selection. The most important element: you have to research, learn and know your market. Who actually looks at the data of a market and even begins to ask the logical questions they need answered? And...

    Proflogic method - successful?

Quite agree that LL/LH/HH/HL is helpful observation of any chart but it is bog standard and peripheral. To start in on any market you have to know what to expect with the days template predicted from a set of parameters. This is far away from what any concepts of independent individual...

    Time off

Hype, go and don't come back. Save yourself heartache. Its not for you and not for most. You and most individual traders simply don't know enough and are not suited to finding out just how much you do need to know about a market. Professionally trading is akin to leaving port with a detailed map...

Is trading Gambling or not .."What say You" Vote here.

If you say it is gambling, sorry, but you belong to the poor dumb stumbling mass of losers who don't make a profit and live on a sh*t diet of hope. Its a way to make and amass money; its a business for the few winners.

    Tradersaavy's Discipline Journal

tradersaavy, Interesting little system you've got going there. I can kinda see what you're doing. Can imagine it picking up on some big movements. However how do you cope with it jicking in and out of the MA in real time before it decides where its going? Seems to me that it could be awkward...

    Historical Qcharts

On QCharts how do you direct access specified historical charts, say INDU? I can drag backwards from current day/period. But that is a pain. I can't find any directory on QCharts for historical charts. I would be grateful for some guidance on this aspect.

    Qcharts freezing today?

With INDU I had intermittent freezing for a few minutes then it coming back in live again; this was this morning. Also I use LiveCharts; on Friday (May 28) they were out for the first hour and half of the market. It is frustrating when you a have a particular layout across a couple of...

    Support and resistance Question...

I asked for your observations on volume (INDU & YM in mind) some days back and I have found here your answer. You give eloquent testimony as to role of volume. Thank you.

    15,000 Dow

Has anyone else noticed that today is the 5th day in a row that the Dow day low has preceded the day high? When you get consecutive days of the day low coming before day high it usually suggests that the market is readying to go up or is going up.

    15,000 Dow

The Dow will recover. There is an enormous generation of cash, current and latent, both domestic and foreign, to go into US stocks.

    Market Depth

I don't have an account with IB so how could I get a feed on Market Depth for INDU and/or YM04M? Any guidance on accessing Market Depth gratefully received. Any comments or observations on the uses and value of Market Depth would also be very interesting.

    ES Trade Example Today

Thanks for your excellent piece on the offset and also the helpful diagram which you appended. Where you have said that "Fast trends occur @10K vol or better on 5 min charts. Slow paces are @ 4.5k vol or better on 5 min" presumably those rates apply to the 5 min bar INDU chart? Any...

    Charting --- who uses what?

It would be very interesting to have your observations on the correct and incorrect interpretations for using the Stochastic. I use it in the 5.2.3 mode as you suggest and its undoubtedly a very effective calibration. How do you characterize it? How do you prefer to interplay the MACD...

    Charting --- who uses what?

I caught up with the meaning of TWS - Trader Workstation at IB. Reference DOM, I noticed at the IB website this: "Open Market Depth/Level II Order on Trading Page. After you create an order from either the Market Depth or Level II window, the trading page that holds the order will pop in...
