Just a few questions about your trading style: 1) How many trades do you do per month? 2) How many shares per trade do you average? 3) How long do your trades last on average? Might help a little bit to narrow down a good broker.

REDI is very liquid. It uses the same order algorithm that ARCA uses. (looks within its own book first, then other ECNs, then Selectnet with market makers.)

Try http://www.newsware.com/ Contact them and tell them you're not with a broker that offers their software, but would like to subscribe to their Newswatch service. I have a feeling they only offer it through their affiliated brokers, but it's worth a try. It's a good program.

Let's say you have a broker, and you have to pay exchange fees to use their real time data. And you have another broker for backup, and you also pay exchange fees there. And maybe you have another software program that helps you in decision making, and you have to pay exchange fees for that...

Do other brokers who charge by ticket allow you a certain time frame and only charge one commission? I just assumed that multiple orders = multiple commissions, regardless of the amount of time inbetween those orders.

Win 2000 will fix your problem. The Win 95/98 platform is not designed to run a lot of different applictions all at once.
