Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal II

Good to hear. October is coming up fast and that means it's about time to close this journal. But what if Spydertrader doesn't want to start Journal III? I was afraid that you'd moved on to loftier things, leaving us bereft of leadership and gurudom. The horrors. :)

The adventures of a new Trader

I'll grant you that. I reacted to the fact that the trade appeared much smoother and safer than his other trades, but you're right, discipline in following rules still seems to be an issue. But hey, whatever the reason, he's learning to protect his stake. Not long ago, he started a thread...

Tell me about it. A painful day in a painful week. I am still holding several stocks from Friday and Monday, and none of them are doing well. I've spent the day rereading Journal I in an attempt to see if I could have/should have exited earlier and saved myself some pain. Some should...

The adventures of a new Trader

Whatever it takes to follow your rules :) If you take a look back at this journal, almost every loss is after a blown or non-existant stop. He has taken some gut-wrenching rides but this time, for whatever reason, he did not. He didn't let the stock go against him and when it showed him...

Stocks can do many things. You acted to protect your principal and took a 5% loss. You should feel good about following your rules, not kicking yourself.

Good stuff. I will adjust my rules to lighten shares then exit if the trend does not continue soon after entry. Thanks for the insight.

Nice call! Clearly I was a bit out of my league in that trade - if I want to get in fast, I need to be able to get out fast, too. I got in a bit lower than you, but didn't get out until 20.28 on average. And with the size I took, I am down a lot more than $50 :( What was it that let you...

Did you buy any when it was trading down to 38.75? I got a bit greedy and tried to frontrun LMIA but got stopped out for just over 2%, and am long TIE and BTUI. I didn't enter into EZPW because I was angsting over LMIA and missed these other opportunities. Grr.

Don's Openings and More for 2006

I've been working on something that will do this using the Java API. How do you do this using hotkeys?

One of the reasons I like Position Trading

I don't think that making $3k/day scalping or daytrading is easy, nor do I think making 75% on a $1mil portfolio is easy, but I think these are reasonable figures to use for skilled pros. Arguing over the numbers just changes the break points but does not affect the overall argument.

One of the reasons I like Position Trading

Let's give the day trader & position trader $1,000,000. How much would the day trader make? Using the P&L thread as a guide, let's say he makes $3k/day, or $750k/year. This is very good coin, I think, but it looks like many people have a hard time busting out of this plateau. Liquidity...

Wow, a lot of huge bulk trades off the opening today. A 120k share trade on ISE single-handedly pushed it over LBDU. TFSM also had a 120k share trade on the opening (and 10k pre-market, and a 20k share trade just off the open). NEU opened and had a 49k share trade shortly after. Is this...

Yup, I was in there with you. My account size has grown dramatically so that I'm no longer trading with play money. It's playing games with my head. I'm embarassed to admit that I sold my shares just before the end of the day for some piddling %age profit. I think that was a mistake and...

Just sold my CBEY at 26.40 for a 9.8% profit. Definitely wish I had gotten more size when I had the chance, but still a nice profit.

I thought so many monitors was to compensate for small dicks, not small boobs. What do I have to buy if I want people to think I'm hung like a stallion on viagra?

I ended up picking up a really small position (1/6th my standard size) earlier in the day after volume continued. When my position came close to 6% then started to reverse, I debated taking off some shares. In the end, I drew the same channel that you've drawn, adjusted my stops, and decided...

Careful with CBEY. When it signaled, more than half of its volume was in a single 40,000 share trade at 9:51. I passed on the trade, but it's up from 23.98x24.00 to 24.43! Ah well. Congrats to those that took the trade, and I hope it stays strong for you.

What motivated you to drop down this far? Do you have any criteria (e.g.: avg daily volume) which helps you decide what time frame is most appropriate? When I look at the charts for GROW, esp early in the day when you said you had a signal, I see nothing but noise :( BTW: whatever...

Spydertrader, Did you take any action on it? I didn't get into it on the 7th and figured that horse has left the stable. Just looking at the huge volatility that has entered into the stock, not to mention the huge spike in volume seems to say that this isn't behaving normally. Too...
