New bankruptcy laws - anyone with any experience ?

Hydroblunt I have a potential plan in mind and would like your advice on whether it would be worth it. This is based on me working on a $65,000 annual salary and also an excellent credit score of 760. Liabilities: Mortgage debt: 120,000 Assets: Savings account: 30,000 Home...

Concurrent long and short same security?

I heard that alot of brokers allow boxed positions but you CANNOT sell the long side first :( That kind of defeats the purpose of circumventing the uptick rule:) Does anyone know of any brokers who dont have these restrictions?

    Value of Backtesting and Stops

When it comes to short-term trading backtesting has value but I dont recommend going too far back. Once I anticipate an edge then I forward test for at least 6 months to check the validity. Worse case scenarios (slippage/commisions) are also priced into the tests. I am also a firm believer in...

Prop trading looks great, then why most retail traders don't simply join in?

Can you recommend a few reputable firms that allow good overnight leverage?

    Disillusioned

I dont know about everyone else here but I never use more then 2:1 margin. I do hold overnight positions though. I doubt anyone can trade over 4:1 margin and stomach the drawdowns. If someone can achieve less then a 5% drawdown in equity with over 4:1 margin then I have alot to learn still. But...

    I am new

Yes. Less capital at risk in exchange for all the shenanigans to be dealt with in the sidebet (options) market. No thanks. Ill just put up the extra money. If you have limited capital then you should'nt be trading stocks , futures or options anyways. It takes money to make money :)

    I am new

I agree here 100%. I have respect for retail traders who trade options profitably but I personally as a retail trader feel that there are less exploitable edges in the options game. I have actually confirmed this by testing my directional equity strategies by using options. The result was a...

Stay away from options if you're a beginner. The odds are stacked against you. Learn how to trade the underlying first. Good luck

    Greatest Daytrader(s) in the world

I believe alot of what Steve Cohen does is done intraday. He was featured in the Market Wizards book where he mentions this. If this is true then he is most definitely the greatest daytrader out there regardless of whether he uses informational flow or whatever method. This guy is the 93rd...

    Greatest Daytrader(s) in the world

I believe Steve Cohen is one of the best daytraders out there. Its been estimated that he makes over 120 million a year and I assume he is definitely worth over a billion from what i've heard. I read an article stating he is one of the most feared traders on Wall Street. Anyone care to comment...

Good poker player = good trader?

You hit the nail right on the head. Poker is very time consuming and you really have to play very high stakes to make your time worth the money. I think discretionary traders would make better poker players. I am very systematic and disciplined when it comes to trading but for some reason this...

    Program Trading

RedManPlus I have just recently purchased the Xincom XC-DPG502. Is this the one you had problems with? Just curious. It's still new in box. Should I just Ebay it and save myself the headaches or do you recommend I try it anyway? What brand has worked best for you?

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

Cohvi From my experiences I have not found a fully technical/auto/mechanical rule-based system to work on any single instrument but have found great success appying a strictly rule based system to a portfolio of equities which I select based on certain criteria. Once a stock fails to meet...
