    Systematic option trading platform

For trading platforms itself, take a look at Thinkorswim and/or IB; both have plusses and minuses.

    Fundseeder. Opinions? Useful/Not. Risk?

Hello All, Recently ran across this site on another et thread apparently backed by some big names (Jack Schwager for one): http://fundseeder.com/ Idea is a good one; but reading the faq on the site i am not able to decide on a couple of things. Throwing it out to see what folks think. 1. Say...

Roth IRA - appreciate any insight into my financial future

In a big move; all correlations will approach 1. So what you think of as 6 stock funds will turn out to be 6x of 1 stock fund. How to improve? I would keep some powder dry; stay 40-50% in cash - if not more. Now cut the 6 funds to 3 or even 2 and stick to the liquid ones among them (say EEM...

Shout out for the rmorse's of ET

Sure lawrence-lugar. I am running a low 6 figure account and was getting limited by margin requirements due to having a regular margin account (cant have PM due to canadian regulations). I have played with future options before and did have a small position when we spoke as well, but i kind of...

Shout out for the rmorse's of ET

Exactly the same boat as i was in xandman. I was not going to be their customer (anytime soon anyways :)); but still he did not brush the conversation away - which is why i wanted to thank him.

Shout out for the rmorse's of ET

Just wanted to shout out a public thank you for the Robert Morse's (and for the other helpful folks) of ET for the time they spend giving useful advise. A few months ago i've had an idea click while having a conversation which made a significant difference to the way i trade and to my pnl...

Best Country for Trading (Tax efficiency)

watchout.. i think its Mauritius that's estimated to get completely immersed in water in a few years (or maybe a couple of decades). ps: did a quick search but couldnt find any reference to it. So maybe it was some other island.

Where would you invest if you think oil prices will go up in 1-2 years?

Both the leveraged instruments and the far dated futures will have the rolls build into them. A better way to do this is to get exposure to stocks/etf in the oil stocks and the related sectors (think oil producers, refiners etc).

    Anything Smaller than an e-mini?

Try and see if options on ES work for you. You can get anywhere from 5 to 100% of the delta exposure and they do trade after close (not very liquid though).

    SPY options

It doesnt matter. And the beauty is that you can give up that half cent from mid price and get an instant fill. What is more important is to stick to a platform you like or are comfortable with; and other things like margin efficiency, other charges like exercise fee etc. Regards! -gariki

IB Fixed vs Tiered pricing - which is better for my case?

Thanks xandman. I actually skimmed that thread before but reading again. i liked the idea of setting the scheme one way or another for a month and comparing. That's what i did yesterday anyways.

IB Fixed vs Tiered pricing - which is better for my case?

Hello all, I tried searching and reading up as well as comparing based on what is currently posted; but would like to see what the good folks here on ET think. Which of the tiered vs fixed commision structure is better for my current trading style; where i am trading both stocks and options on...

    How accurate is IB's T5008?

Thanks for the replies folks. After looking at the split between realized pnl and unrelaized gains, the numbers did all match up quite nicely with what my mtm values are. So all good. Thanks.

    How accurate is IB's T5008?

Hello Canadian traders, Based on your experiences, how accurate is IB's T5008 reporting. Specifically for Cost and Proceeds (boxes 20 and 21). Due to open positions at year end, my marked to market pnl for the year is significantly different than what i see on the T5008. Can we just trust it...

Buckets in IB for multiple strategies

volpunter, I dont see this "FA Setup" button anywhere on my tws or in options. Perhaps this is dependent on account type. Will call IB later to confirm. And you are right; if i can tag them and see the option legs separately on the ladder that would work for me. For now i am tilting towards...

Buckets in IB for multiple strategies

Thanks IB-AN. Glad to know there is atleast one way of doing it. But i wish it were simpler than having to open a Prop Trading Group account when all i wanted was a customized view of my positions. I am not worried about the nominal fee for data etc but its probably a pain to setup an...

Buckets in IB for multiple strategies

@newwurldmn: i currently do it in excel as well (for the tos trades - which mirror my ib trading as well; so i use it as proxy). But i am looking at adding a couple more strategies to ib (since in tos i need to do 4x size for commission efficiency in canada), and am not comfortable tracking ib...
