    Investing through LCC

Did you mean to write LLC? In Europe, you can't make it available to 3rd party investors unless you're registered (and regulated) as a financial services company. It's expressly forbidden to do otherwise (ie. create a fund open to investors), even in the most flexible EU jurisdictions...

    DAX vs ?

Some questions, which seasoned DAX traders may be able to offer a quick answer for me. Talking about the DAX futures @ Eurex: 1/ Watching the "tape" (time and sales) on the DOME via IB, I sometimes notice big-lot (e.g. 80-100 contracts for DAX) trades, which I don't see at all in Esignal's...

    YM Traders

I like YM (as a proxy for a 0.1tick ES), but its fees are truly exorbitant. I believe YM is the most expensive electronic futures product of all markets I follow. Right now I'm paying 4.04r/t via IB (unbundled, so it drops later in the month), which really adds up (several thousands of...

Yen now and through the summer

Chood, funnymentally speaking, your arguments in favor of a Yen long are sound and I agree. Same arguments can be brought up for Euro (stocks up +20% YTD in most Eurozone economies and bonds @ 60yr highs / yields @ 60yr lows). And remember that it's not some small market we're talking about...

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

Am I the only one experiencing these 5-15sec delays? (happens for about 10%-15% of the orders) In various markets: CME, CBOT and Eurex. In a FEW cases, I can explain it due to momentary bottlenecks in my ISP link, but Internet bottlenecks were always an issue in prior years as well and it...

Interative Brokers Slashes UK Stock Commissions

Are CFD's for UK stocks basically a way to avoid stamp-tax costs for active trading? (in addition to leverage)

    Big Move Up Imminent

Macro, when you are referring to "institutions", who do you mean? Because in a sense, all market participants (mutual funds, hedge funds, WallStreet firms etc) other than retail investors, can be called "institutions", right?

    IB is down?

Best to upgrade Java to 1.5. Using 1.4.x-latest and TWS will produce some odd "bugs" (in UI, nothing fatal or affecting API trading in my experience), which I have mentioned in posts some weeks ago.

    YM Traders

IMO, posting live trades in real-time is best done in a IRC chat-room (or other RT technology like IM etc), otherwise it's distracting. There are many (100+) trading rooms in Othernet and one can start his own at any moment. There are even scripts which automate posting of trading signals...

    Is Scalping possible?

Indeed, in both ES and ZN, I've had on occasion submitted a resting order quite far away from current price, over 1hr before price arrived there, and it would trade 100s of contracts before I got a fill. It seems that there are blackboxes which fill the entire book with orders.

Watch Me Win the September Contest

So tell us a bit about your trading style. Do you trade a diversified portfolio across several pairs? Or just focus on one, e.g. EUR/USD? What is the timeframe? Minutes? Hours? Days?

Whats the Biggest Instant Fill Size for Institutions and Private Investors?

Could any of the seasoned Forex traders explain to me why EUR/USD and JPY/USD are so weak, despite what seems like big inflows in respective equity and bonds markets (e.g. German DAX and Japanese NIKKEI have risen over 20% in last few months and Euro bonds are near all time highs). If this is...

    dax scalping

I keep seeing this "bang for your buck" comment and I'm not sure what to make of it. In some cases, people use this term for $-daily range per contract, e.g. - 10 pts ($1k for 1c) on ER2, - 80 pts ($400 for 1c) on YM, - 18pts ($360 for 1) on NQ - 9 pts ($450 for 1c) on the ES. For...

The Ultimate DAX Scalping Discussion Thread!

Reluctantly, for the most part, I'm inclined to agree ... These days I'm going over this thread once more (I had been following it, back in 2003-2004, but I wasn't trading DAX/ET to be able to evaluate whether things mentioned here had merit or not) PS: Any meeting points (forums, IRC...

    Is Scaling Out a Fallacy?

I scale both in and out. I think for each one of us, our scaling experience/method is very dependant on the specific market being traded, e.g. when daytrading liquid / low-range markets (e.g. bonds) one has few chances to succeed unless both entry and exit are very carefully planned and...

    Forex Implied Volatility

I think the issue with forex is that the market is fragmented. Spot forex, futures etc. For other markets, exchange traded and "single" markets (e.g. crude oil), one can watch e.g. COT and just miss any OTC action, which might be small in some markets so no harm done. But in forex there is...

    YM Traders

Small loss in YM (few tradeable swings for me today) trades: 1/ Short 10672, -1tick (slippage of breakeven stop) not shown 2/ Short 10568.5, cover 10573, -4.5ticks 3/ Short 10568, cover 10572, -4ticks 4/ (small) Long 10570, cover ~10586.5, +16.5icks some EUR trades in between (shown...

    Can bad ticks trip stops?

Other than in pit-based markets (like commodities), where trades are reported by humans, I don't think there are "bad ticks" in electronic markets. Although there can be "outlier" trades, e.g. I've had my stop get triggered 50+ pips from current price, during afterhours (18:10est)...

    Nikkei 225

Just checked it (its IB symbol is SGXNK right?). It looks quite liquid, but it trades in 5pt tick increments. Maybe it's a leftover from the times that NIKKEI was trading at 40.000 points? Just like ES's 0.25tick was OK when SP500's avg daily range was 22-25pt...

    YM Traders

I was a bit nervous today (when my funnymentals-based EOD positions give me big losses, which is most of the time, even had several "perfect storm" days this month ...). Anyway, YM trades were: Small size trades 1/ Long 10450, cover 10468 (+18ticks) 2/ Short 10473, cover 10480 (-7 ticks)...
