Oil: so much that they're turning it away?

1/ terror premium I really think this one is a media invention (media thinks up "explanations" for price action) Even during wartime (1991, 2003) in the oil-producing nations, oil would shoot up temporarily and then quickly subside, as supply-demand kicks in. Even then, one would think...

Anyone know if they are breaking those Silver trades

Incredible that those trades in YI at -10% or more didn't get busted. Personally I noticed it right as it happened, put an order to buy YI but never transmitted it, as I was not sure beyond which price they would get busted by CBOT (i was sure they'd get busted, just not at what level). YI...

    Esignal massively lagging today

Btw (now the dust has settled and have a moment to post) today's Esignal fiasco seemed to be for GLOBEX markets (ES, ER etc). CBOT markets (YM, bonds) seemed to work OK after FMOC. I'm also looking to replace Esignal next year.

    Understanding COT Data........

Take a look at natural gas COT data of the past 3-4 months and tell me what you think. Lawyers and dentists are squeezing the hedge funds short? It certainly looks that way!

Oil: so much that they're turning it away?

Does anyone understand the discrepancy between the physical oil market drowning in oil and yet futures price making new multi-week highs? With stockpiles at multi-year highs and storage facilities so full that LOOP is refusing further deliveries (and this is for light sweet crude oil, so that...

    GOOG worth $30/share? (per Hussman)

Search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) comparison "blind test" results: http://www.webmasterbrain.com/seo-tools/seo-experiments/the-search-engine-experiment/test-results/ G 42% Y 31% M 27% Frankly I was a bit suprised. So (assuming the test is objective) G's lead in results isn't as big...

Oil: so much that they're turning it away?

I wonder if someone more versed into the (physical) oil trading industry could help me interpret the following comment from an article in Bloomberg yesterday: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000103&sid=aIpBHjHSmtCg&refer=us So, are they turning oil away? It doesn't seem far...

IB: Older TWSes no longer work as of today?

I've also encountered the same problem which you described, i.e. unable to login with TWS 854.4 / Java 1.5.0_04 (tried it quickly on the "experiments" PC last week and thought I'd debug things later). Which is why I remained with TWS 853.8 and 851.9 for my regular trading, until this happened...

IB: Older TWSes no longer work as of today?

Thanks Xenia, After trying all TWS/Java/OS combinations, it seems that the problem is at IB (and not my local configuration). I just tried with TWS 854.4 (very latest) and Java 1.5.0_06 (2 patchlevels above what I had) and it still won't download open positions / account info from IB or...

IB: Older TWSes no longer work as of today?

Today, my PCs which run "older" (i.e. not the very latest "bleeding-edge") but the previous version (current file tws40_install_prev.exe from IB's website) WON'T WORK ANYMORE. Just checked TWS 853.8 (Nov05) and 851.9 all PCs have Java 1.5.0_04 They won't download open positions data from...

    Bridgewater

But Dalio's macro-plays for 2005, as he outlined them in an interview 6-months ago, like long Yen, were very off-side.

e-miNY crude oil and gas futures changes

I did so. I also find very convenient that IPE Brent trades in 0.01 increments. Although I'm find it's T&S (as offered by IB) a bit odd, those 1000 lots which don't seem to affect price at all.

    CME EURO Futures Market Makers?

Could you elaborate "order protocols used to screw size screen traders"? You mean the order limits for ES ? Also, what do you think about the 0.25 vs 0.1 tick increment of ES vs SP ? Doesn't it affect your ability to scalp?

    IB order delays

Well, after lots of tests and problems (missing trades, closing un-bracketed positions asap etc) I've gone BACK to previous version of TWS 851.9 (which was current, before the problems appeared in Sep05) and sofar everything seems to work fine again. Hope this helps.

Dollar decline, round II, starts here

MrP, ofcourse I agree Japanese PEOPLE would want a stronger Yen. Afterall, whereas one can argue that US might benefit from a temporarily weaker USD (to decrease the value of its accumulated outstanding debt and pay its debt back with cheaper dollars, sortof pardoning part of its debt), the...

Dollar decline, round II, starts here

The facts you suggest have existed throughout 2005 and yet USD held very well. As I wrote earlier, both Japan and China are inflating their money supply with double-digit rates (China is printing money at 18% rate) and buying USD. I think the wildcard here, again, are the central banksters...

Dollar decline, round II, starts here

The funnymentals, as I interpret them, suggest that USD goes lower. When, is unknown. The rationale has been beaten to death over the past few years. The current scenario suggests a US slowdown / recession, as the US consumer gets squeezed by the combination of higher costs and the housing...

Dollar decline, round II, starts here

Btw, the E.U/London specs MrProfit is talking about: I assume he's infering from US Treasury TIC flows, which indeed show that the main big buyer (besides the Carribean pirates) has been UK (note: this include Isle of Man, which again is a base of offshore funds). Personally, I think those...

    GOOG cornering...

As I wrote in a previous thread, I think the powers that be push it higher (since greedy sheeple won't bail as long as price is increasing), waiting to sell when GOOG is included in SP500.
