    SPX Credit Spread Trader

wow...just took a look at the 10day overbought/oversold oscillators:eek: we haven't seen this deep a low on NDX since 9/11 and hugh dip on NYSE to boot. It is often said that a sharp move with volatility and volume is a change in either direction or rotation. Given the economy is still quite...

thanks RD I don't think I've seen a long term chart of the vix (2+) yrs...in retrospect its easy to see why fotm worked so well in 05...vix was really quite contained and although "they" don't recommend selling premium during low vix periods fotm CS's are certainly fairly good to do.

Yes I do "believe" I have overall done better legging into spreads...but since I don't know what I would have received had I not legged in I can't do a side by side comparison. I know RD did better than I on June call spread by .10 but lets face it a nickel or dime happens to all of us...

One thought about today's activity...twice mkt rallied only to be sold. Could it be ppl who have lost a ton on the emerging markets/commodities are having to cash in on the US market (which has lagged) to pay off?

    How about this strategy?

Eliot although I'm a new comer to this forum I have to say your question is THE question we all have.... Optionetics: Good or Bad ?

would you BELIEVE anyone that said they are successful at trading options (enough to live on "covering the nut..so to speak) and didn't work for a trading firm/on the floor/no mentor/ spent less than $500 on books and seminars)?

    Optionetics: Good or Bad ?

Well I won't quibble with $3000 but $30,000:eek:   Honestly I have enjoyed the TOS seminar's I've gone to and the $199 trade n learn and can understand the "feel good" nature of seminars and how you could get hooked on them. But NONE of them have made me a "better" trader...

Forget Trading... I got a new job!

Lasic is awesome and absolutely works for astigmatism..I've had it done. However you can get what you pay for at a Lasic "mill" Even though its more its worth going to a Dr that really knows what they are doing and paying more.

    Calendar Spreads

If I can butt in...One thing I'm learning about calendars is there is no rule that says you HAVE to hold on to the bitter end. I had a couple of put cal's that have done well and I decided today the the underlying just might start coming back and while there was a lot of volatility out there I...

Bullish on Stock - Request for Advice

pattersb to answer your original question..irregardless of the stock...a spread is always a good option. If you are bullish on a stock and the sky is the limit then straight calls are fine but most of the time you guys that are good at TA can pick a target so in that case a spread would work...
