This is something that never came naturally to me as a trader. That is, listening to my inner voice. It just amazes me, the bullets that I have spookily dodged the last 6 months in equities. It's like travelling down a road in a car, everything is looking fine but you just decide for some...
This has probably already been posted in this thread, but come on, I am not reading 32 pages ...
'Men who can both be right and sit tight are uncommon' - Jesse Livermore
Slightly off topic, but was it the equities or commodities or both that led you to blew half your account? I find it so much easier to make money in equities than FX or commodities.
Thanks for all the replies. I am feeling a whole lot better about it now. That I selected it purely based on the chart (and a little other secret sauce) and it goes on to move explosively (albiet without me) is kind of encouraging.
I was getting impatient. My other stocks had been moving up with the market and PRTA was just sitting there. I was beginning to feel unconfortable holding it.
Indeed! In all honesty though , I believe that I acted correctly in closing it. I won't be changing anything either.
Things could have been worse, against my better judgement I was tempted to get in on initial rally after open but thankfully had enough self control to realise what an...

I agree that it would be most useful to study the flow of money by investor type.
Well if what you say is true that a good chunk of retail has been in since the lows of 2009 then doesn't that make them the 'smart money'?
Those who have been in for the last 4 or 5 years are sitting on some...
The question is (at least for myself) is, do we get at least one decent 20% or more correction along the way? If it there are no meaningful corrections from here to the ultimate top then, seriously, where is the fun in that?
To the OP, let's say you trade your system and after a seemingly undending deluge of loses you catch a winner which quickly reockets to 30%, rising to 40% of your account then as you take a closer look you see signs that the market might be turning. Now it's been so long since you had a profit...
If you are thinking of getting in (Oil is on sale, and everybody loves a sale don't they?), be very very careful. There are lots of theories being banded about regarding why oil has sold off but just realise something, picking the bottom here is a low odds trade and I suggest that you position...
