    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

Just curious as to why you would even attempt to fade good EPS news in this environment? The better trade is to wait for the price to reverse over the open print and be long. That is the money trade, fading good/weak EPS numbers is fruitless in this tape. EK, ABC, and UNH some good recent...

Stock day-traders, how many points a day?

Absolutely right. This IS daytrading circa 2002-03! Well put, Candletrader.

Dow About To Go To Hell???

Agreed, but NAZZ is down 75% since peak; after 20s bubble DOW gave back 90% of gains; that would bring it back to about 4700. Also if we follow the same parallel, gets you SP 480ish, and NAZZ 900. We'll see

Dow About To Go To Hell???

I see two possible outcomes here from a 100 year DOW chart: Some more days like this and maybe just maybe the retail investor will be pissed enough to call en masse to get what little money they have left in mutual funds out. This would clear the decks and maybe take prices all the way back...

Mcdonald's -- "We Love to See you Smile!"

I eat at McDonalds maybe 4-5 times a year, usually when on the road, and/or extremely hungry and there's no food in the house (like tonite), or don't feel like cooking..and want to be full in a hurry. In fact, I ate it 3 hours ago and feel sick already. I was so hungry tonite I just went for...

So what is your all time favorite strategy

Right now...beating on stocks that miss estimates and/or guide lower. Other than that I can't say.

    What Was the Bullmarket Like?

Things I remember: The constant pulsating of the market, there was ALWAYS a trade The whoosh factor was high and addicting, I remember my first real good day, EMC came out with some negative story, stock opened at about 102 or so, so I try to short, didn't get filled, and watched it go...

How many daytraders are still out there?

    The market is whispering something...

ET should create a section called Entertainment, and topics could include: name calling, pissing matches, ego-trips, betting, dick-sizes, politics, religion, trading ability (or lack therof), wallet-size, gay bashing, belittling, showing off, or any of the numerous topics most threads...

Where Have All The Traders Gone?

This is why you stop by 11:00AM: ADP O:37 L: 35.25 -- nice piece there; DD O: 43.60 L 42.60; +.50 by 10:30. Bwt the two depending on size, you had a great day; this market sucks after 11:00AM....there is no conviction..and anyone trading after that will churn themselves out of biz; there are...

    Quiet in trading room

In essence I can see where that's justified and agree that it could happen, but I am viewing 2000-03 more like 1929-32, just because all those ducks line up don't make it a lock for 2003. I would have preferred to see the year start off poorly, but the fact that it didn't, leads me to believe...

    Quiet in trading room

Crap? Check a DOW chart from 1929-32, not pretty. Then check the same chart from 1965-82, not good either, then check the chart from 1982-2000, especially 1995-2000, and tell me that people have given up hope. Hope is the only reason we are not at SP 600 or lower by now. I agree about the...

    Thank Goodness for the PPT

Somehow I knew this thread would get activated today:D The bulk of my gains today also came from getting long into the AM hole. Shorts were tougher:confused: Have a good one...

    Quiet in trading room

Lescor, excellent post. Very well put. These are my thoughts exactly, and I have written to that effect several times on this sight. No hope whatsoever has to be in place: period. No 265 point reactions to a good ISM #; No AM gaps in the futures because Cisco's gonna make an extra 100MM in...

Is DayTrading Stocks Even Worth it Anymore?

Nice work! But the topic of the thread is trading stocks not futures, no?

    Thank Goodness for the PPT

OK fair enuff, nuff said on this topic, yes I agree I would have also gone long the open had I not slept thru it! Hope you hit 'em hard this AM! David

    Thank Goodness for the PPT

I have no great wisdom or profound market knowledge, just some years of observing some truly miraculous "turnarounds", in the face of awful data. We all know Japan is rigged, why is it so hard to believe the same here? The market is a victim of it own success from the 1990s, very hard to let...

    Thank Goodness for the PPT

Fluctuates alot? -100K vs. expectations of +20-30K? You are so naive....all the ingredients for a 4th down year are in place, who do think is buying? Mutual fund cash is 4.4% vs. 11% in 1990, 12.5% in 1982; why do you think the markets just hold ground and don't go anywhere? Everyone is...
