    Where Are We Headed

Whimper; the fact that everyone is "trying" to game "a" bottom , or "the" bottom.. is still to me very disturbing. Tradable rallies from time to time notwithstanding, this will end when everyone's given up. This Bear will take out the most bodies possible before all is said and done...

How much do you REALLY make trading?

Better not show up at the local Stop N Shop job fair tommorrow...I don't need the competition!

i looked into my screens and cried

"Volume-less Volatilty"; get used to it folks, it may be around for awhile. This is the teeth of the Bear, and quite honestly I am one of those schmucks who has taken some time off to re-evaluate this business, and maybe pursue some other passions in life. No rule says you have to beat...

Past 3 years; just a minor correction - Get Real Long

Yes I started the thread to be tongue-in-cheek; the outright straight-faces they had on when they said this stuff was truly scary. If there is a silver lining, and these two fools turn out to be right; at least trading will be like the good ol' daze. OK! Best to all, David

Past 3 years; just a minor correction - Get Real Long

Dent: Amount netted off book: 2.5 million. Cost of the minor correction: 7.0 trillion. Psychosis enabling me to get rich off the investor: Priceless. Yes I am bored today.

Past 3 years; just a minor correction - Get Real Long

On the 3rd anniversary of the Nasdaq peak , just saw on CNBC, Harry Dent and Jim Glassman say the past 3 years were a minor correction. Dent..NAZZ Old peak attained by 2006 Glassman: DOW 36,000 by 2008-09 Well that settles it! :D Unreal, why worry?

When are LLC's required to get you your K-1?

Call your firm and at least get the number, they have them most likely ready by now, but have not mailed out the docs. I got mine last Wed. Best, David

North Korea lobbing nukes from a couple miles away doesn't help either, which has basically coincided with the last break.

Remember 100pt AH spike in ES on 2/5?

The ovelooked problem is that STILL after 3 years, people are still trying to game a .01 gain in est's, by a company that's still overpriced (CSCO) in this case. Order mechanics aside, the fact that this was remotely ascribed as a reason, says not one lesson in 36 months has been learned...

    Serious Job Losses....

Agree with your assessment to an extent..but do you live in or around NYC? I know several people both unemployed and barely employed for now..who have taken 50% paycuts just too stay on in their current jobs..including a former well paid Nasdaq MM at CSFB. In addition, if you are ever in the...

    Serious Job Losses....

Soon enuff. The hope in the markets shows no signs of abating anytime soon. When is the last time youv'e seen a "bid-wanted" situation in the market? I have to go all the way back to Mar-Apr 2001, since I have seen this. Hell, even during the post 9/11 open, I felt comfy going long, in...

    Pit Boys Hurting

There are 6000 hedge funds; they play the short-side the way the retail day-trader played the long side in the late 90s. In my estimation, I would be short hedge-funds as a group as roughly 1/2 are likely to get obliterated. My cousin, who is an Institutional Broker; lost a 1B client last...

    Serious Job Losses....

OK TGgregg, whose opinion and posts I always respect, several MM later I will submit to that 1: The population in the 1930s was aprox 75mil less; pre baby boom so apples to apples Umplym. is likely 12-13% Nationalized; 2: a very good friend of mine whose been flipping real-estate in the NYC area...

The current environment is eerily reminsicent of the 1930s Post Bubble Warmongers and Crazies Rates lowered 15 times to no effect Great Depression Shaping up as a great decade no? Tuff price to pay for the mass financial irresponsibity of the 1990s. It's our turn folks...

    Pit Boys Hurting

That's the whole point of a Bear Market..to wear everyone out, till no one want's anything to do with the markets...total apathy, we are not there yet, but we are getting real close. Bottom's are processes, not events (like people are still trying to game), when everyone gives up from...

    Trading these markets...

This is absolutley so true. I recall a day like that last December; I was short..News: Saddam will comply..markets turn up; So I start looking to get long..Greenspan shows up on the tube and says economy softer that expected, market drops, a new bin Laden tape comes out that day, etc etc...

    The market is content?

I think people just get used to the numbers, until they change again! Remember after 9/11, the SP was at about 945 or so, rallied to 1180. To think from then it would go to 770 in Oct was not even a question. Now at 835..945 looks great, no? Guess people becoming immune and apathetic...

Big Technical Rally To S&p 880

Agreed 650, but see it within 2 months (2003); then a stiff rally. My only basis for this is that SO MANY are expecting an IRAQ relief rally that IMO is total BS; the structural problems in US equities are far beyond Iraq or anything I can bring to mind; the speculative bent is TOO alive and...
