I think you are being too kind. They run stops in order to cover shorts they initiate, and screw you out of a profit.

IMO, this is a horrible development for the individual trader. If millions of shares are transacted "off market" then prices could either drop or spike suddenly, or cause an incredible lack of volatility. This is so unfair to the average trader, it's not funny.

You need to papertrade your system until you are profitable for several weeks. Don't risk one dollar until you are consistently profitable.

Where is the SEC in all of this? The "market" then is just made up of daytraders and Joe Six-Pack. Anybody who has volume trades does it on pipeline or dark pools. No wonder there is no volatility anymore.

If you are serious about trading, you need to get a real broker. I was with Ameritrade years ago. They're okay for swing trading, but my experience was in a fast market, their system often fails. I lost way more money than they ever saved me because I was stuck in a position for hours, cause...

This about sums it up, but I'll add another big one: resiliency. It takes mental strength to sustain successive losses and keep trading; just shrug it off. That's what I struggle with.

The ER2 today was very erratic, almost like someone threw a switch and today I'm trading against computers. Anybody else notice this?

1 million is the front month for the emini, not the pit contract. That is the SP not the ES.

It will be very useful to have a degree in economics from a top 10 school. That way you can intern at Goldman Sachs, etc. If you want to be a independent trader, you don't even need to go to college.

The difference may be that in a demo account, they are allowing the trades to go through into the market. When you go live, they are trading against your position, so you get lousy fills.
