So how do people use a "macro filter" ?

So taking a day such as today with general weakness across U.S. equities..... If you came across a specific bullish trade set up on an individual security that you found attractive, would you discount it due to the macro weakness in the market ? Or asked differently, how much credence do you...

Eganon69 - Interesting Stocks to watch based on TA ONLY!!

Since I have a shorter time frame (using 50 delta options as my vehicle) I would wait until a stong break above 35.48 on the close (Just my method). SCTR and ADX line look good and IBB coming off the pivot low is looking healthier.

    Nassim Taleb: Ask Me Anything

When you read someone such as Taleb, I think you have to keep it in the abstract. ie: events are more random than many perceive. Not, everything in life is random. Specifically on trading.... I took a lot from his point that if a trade is not working, you do not need to figure out the why...

    EOD traders only journal

@baggerlord I know you've been working with the NL concept. If you look at stockcharts.com SCTR indicator it is coming up with similar results with a lot less work. Don't know if it is better or worse, you just may be interested.

Thanks. And as you probably know stockcharts.com has their own SCTR indicator, which may be redundant to what you are already doing.

@dumpdapump "not that I care "....then let the guy run his journal, if you don't likeee don't readeee. I don't understand why people have to bust stones on this site, not every post/thread will be relevant to every reader, that is why it is called a Forum !

    Why look at volume ?

@lovethetrade you did not comprehend my original post correctly. That is not my contention. You touched on it with... "where volume information is available.." My point is....IS accurate volume information available. Sprout, simples and RM quoted above have some good input on the subject.

Short Selling Against The Box - Restricted Stock

Not my area but I would doubt at the major wirehouses, maybe some of the smaller firms. Wouldn't it be defeating the whole purpose of restricted stock ? An alternative is to short a company in the same sector as the restricted stock , if some type of hedge is what you are looking for.
