    Larry Pesavento Method

One of his books is titled: Astro-Cycles: The Trader's Viewpoint One review wrote: "Wow. The planets determine stock and futures prices. What a nut bag. The beauty of this approach is that it can never be disproved. It's like me saying that there are chocolate cakes orbiting Jupiter...

    Best simulator for offline trading?

Ray, When is NT5 due out? No, haven't been to one of the sessions. I'm not sure we are talking about the same level of charting. The charting in Trademaven, Buttontrader and Interactivebrokers are just not at the same level as Amibroker, Sierracharts and Ensign. Maybe NT5 will be...

Is IB software best used alone, or with a "front end"?

Amen, hit the nail right on the head. It doesn't seem like Booktrader is going to be improved. Seems like a lot of their software tools (i.e. charting) are very simple and have few features. Brooks

    Ensign - IB combo

I also use IB. It only does backfill for the current day and I needed backfill for several days back and did a one month trial of myTrack/Trackdata. It worked very well and the cost for myTrack is reasonable (~$45-50/mo) not including fees for some exchanges. One oddity I found is that...

    Trademaven Pro and Con ...

bundle, I'm sure you are right about MD but many traders trade off 1 or 5 minute bars so this is overkill. A 66 MB+ file is difficult to work with. It is slow to download, takes up a lot of room, can make a program using it run slow, can cause memory problems in Windows, etc. Brooks

    Best simulator for offline trading?

I wanted to post an update on using Ensign for trade simulation. So far, it may be the best solution I've found, especially all being in one package/product. Charting in Ensign is excellent. It has a build-in Playback feature as well as a Sim (simulated) Broker feature which allows you to...

    Trademaven Pro and Con ...

The advanced charts, such as Volume Analysis, are not available in the $50/month Standard version, but require the $200/month Professional version. (discounts are available by paying 6 months in advance) I have worked with a lot of stored data and have never encountered files this large...

    Ensign - IB combo

Ensign may be getting an unfair rap here. For an explanation go to: http://www.ensignsupport.com/email/361.mhtml

    Trademaven Pro and Con ...

In a recent thread I asked for trading simulator suggestions and several people suggested Trademaven. I've been looking at this product for several days. Pros - Nice integration of data replay capability, order simulation and charting. - Very nice DOM/graphical order interface - Data...

    Best simulator for offline trading?

To clarify this, I mean a price ladder/DOM (depth of market) type interface common to Button Trade, Bracket Trader, Ninja Trader, etc. Thanks

This product is $1500, $2750 or $3750! Outside my budget!

    Best simulator for offline trading?

I am looking into Ensign. It has better charting than most and a wealth of data files to work with and the ability to create more. There is also a vast amount of trader resources for those who use Ensign. And, the author answered my first few questions very promptly. Unfortunately, there...

    Best simulator for offline trading?

I see they have a "Market Replay" feature. The website doesn't have a whole lot of information. Do you know which data feeds they work with? Do you use TM?

    Best simulator for offline trading?

What is the best simulator to practice trading at night or on weekends using stored data files? It must offer a graphical/mouse order interface. It must store a trade log and print/export reports showing profit and loss. It must be able to start, stop and reverse the replayed data...

What one book led you to profitable systems?

This is for mechanical/system traders ... What one book turned the tide for you and led/helped you develop profitable systems? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post this to the world. (those who don't like/believe in books or systems, go right onto the next thread :)

    How to do walk-forward testing?

Given a system which trades on 5 min bars, generate 30 trades per month and I have 36 months of data to test with. What are some good ways to WFT? How about optimize for 4 months, test out of sample for 1 month, then move forward 1 month and repeat? This will require 32(?) tests which...
