Successful traders, what did you do to increase your performance stats?

The biggest single improvement came when I decided to concentrate on only strong trades during good market conditions. Instead of trting to catch every trade.

What exactly is in a candlestick graph that makes traders use it

Even Forex has a point in time when a day ends and a new one begins. I am not sure but I think it is 5 pm new york time. So if you look at a spot forex daily candlestick chart you will see a candle close at 5 pm and a new one begin at 5:01 pm.

    Building a position around support/resistance

I wait for S/R levels to tighten and then look for a break of the trading range. After that I treat it as a breakout trade using normal brekout techniques like the one here. breakouts

Margin level percentage 500% safe or not ?

True, but assuming you tweak your strategy to be successful you will want to increase your position size. I guess what I am saying is this. Don't trap yourself into a strategy that requires big leverage.

Margin level percentage 500% safe or not ?

Generally high leverage is unwise. The only exception that I can think of is for a very experienced traders with years of successful trading. Even that is questionable since someone like that will be trading large positions where such leverage would once again be unwise.

Look like ET could not keep many old members actively posting anymore. Why?

Not sure why you would say that. I get trades just about everyday.

Is this seriously what trend traders do?

Sorry to jump in here. Cant help it. I need more context but what you have is a large price correction to a probable resumption of an up trend. Notice to the right side of the chart price has made a higher swing low. This is indicative of the begining of an up trend. Its not tradable yet because...

Is there a benefit to paper trading?

I agree with what Robert said. I would like to add that one needs to focus hard on the original problem. Why do people not stick to thier trading plans. Do they put them down in writing? Is it emotions getting the best of them? Perhaps its distractions in the room during trading? These are...

Is this seriously what trend traders do?

I must have learned to trade about the same era that you did. All of your definitions of a trend sound familiar. But over the years I have taken a different view on trends. Possibly because of my work with multiple time frame analysis or because of my teaching other traders. Can't really be...

What do students need to learn about day trading?

Is this seriously what trend traders do?

I feel the need to chime in here if you don't mind. A tradable trend can be differentiated from a false breakout by the retest of S/R. Entries based on this are never underwater for very long. Usually seconds if at all. With regard to trend determination. There are many ways to determine a...

Do most of your profits come from a small % of trades?

Funny, I just took a quick look at my numbers and roughly 80% of my profits come from 20% of my trades. Hmmm.

Is this seriously what trend traders do?

Not a trend trader that makes money. What you describe is the result of some one that does not understand market structure. I enter the trend on a technical retracement and exit when the technicals that support the trend change. The worst case (which rarely happends is two attempts to enter the...
