maybe you are not missing anything.. run it live and then you will know for sure about fills, slippage, etc. edit: you did remember to count the losing trades right? :)

    Random Trading

i think anti-martingale is where you bet 2*N if you win and N if you lose. so on a losing streak your bet is constant, and on a winning streak your bet is *increasing*.

    Mr Subliminal's Remote Trading Journal

you were doing great, and you let one bad day shatter your confidence. the only thing you did wrong is you kept trading with a big loss. write this on the WALL with a marker: CIRCUIT BREAKER -$1000. also, for each consecutive losing trade, sit on the sidelines for 1 minute, 2 minutes, 4, 8...

    Margin on Eminis

That change makes sense to me, given that the indexes have dropped so far this past year. If a stock dropped from 120 to 80, it would take less margin to own it/short it, and yet the futures margin remained the same. I wonder if they will raise the margin once the S&P gets back to 1200+ ? I am...

    After hours half margin

sounds like refco and netfutures are opening themselves up to more risk. the min margin is about 4k for SP eminis (ES), and half that during the trading day.

    Is the bottom in?

just want to mention one thing I read on this board a while ago (last year maybe?).. you are right that lowering interest rates does not start the bull running again. but someone posted that the upswing usually starts at the *end* of the fed's easing cycle. thinking about it now, that sounds...

Average holding time for winning trades

very good points rs7.. I like the idea of holding 100 shares out of the 1000. Lets quantify it a little though. When you close out the 100 shares, re-calculate your profit as if you had held all 1000, or scaled out 500-500. If you do this for a while (say several weeks or a month) and you...

    Legal templates

Actually, as I understood it in one of the hedge fund sites listed above, an LLC and LP both offer limited liability. They said most hedge funds are LP, so that would definitely make it limited liability! Limited partnership sounds more like there are a certain number of partners who control...

Is IB a good firm for spreads?

AFAIK, with the exception of ISE, all option spread orders are printed out to a broker on the floor, who works it manually. On the ISE, sure it accepts spreads, but in my experience it usually just waits until the bid on one side and the ask on the other equal your spread amount. i.e. it only...

    Flat Panel Monitors

    1. it is always cheaper to get CRTs vs LCDs. 19" CRT = 18" LCD (measure it) 2. the larger LCDs are always more expensive than getting 2 smaller ones. i particiularly dont understand why people pay $3k+ for an Apple cinema display.. sure they are nice, but you can get 2 good 17" (or 18") LCDs...

    Mr Subliminal's Remote Trading Journal

Sub man, that is inexcusable.. I have the solution for you. Put a trailing stop on your own profit. Once you are up "big," for the day (whatever that is for your account), set a trailing stop at 2/3. So if you are up $900, stop trading if your total gain gets down to $600.

    Exposing one Donald Bright

I get a feeling of deja-vu reading that post.. was something substantially identical posted last year? disclaimer: i am in no way affiliated with Bright Trading.. i find most of Don's posts to be intelligent and contain useful information. having said that, i don't think i would ever join...

eSignal 7.0 - new charts, formula script, & drawing tools.

well said, Lancer. personally i want to see the bad ticks (but be able to filter/edit them) because then i know that many other people are probably seeing the bad tick also. i know that may trigger stops, keep people from trading the stock, etc. and thats something i want to know in my...

    Intraday Backtesting

wally, there are not such large gaps on intraday data. a stock may gap 20% overnight but you will never see that kind of gap intraday. pjtomtai, i dont have a website where i can put that size of data.. what i will suggest though is that we make a "web ring." i.e. you send it to me, and i...
