Selling fine jewelry--any ideas on how to get a fair price?

LOL, CW, that is why you are a master trader! If that is the best offer I get, I'll probably turn the thing into a really awesome nose ring or something.

Rush,Hannity,The Tea party criticize Obama, but this is who they want in office

Why would either a liberal or conservative be more desperate than the other? The elections aren't like a football game where I'm going to throw on a jersey and root for my team. I couldn't give a damn which party gains or loses most in the election. I'm tired of trying to choose between the...

Rush,Hannity,The Tea party criticize Obama, but this is who they want in office

EXACTLY! That's why I'm sick of these birthers and I wish they would just STFU and deal with the fact that their guy lost, get over it and get ready for the next one.

If you're a guy woud you get married today?

Ironically, I started another thread today seeking advice on how to sell a slightly used wedding ring set. My wife and I were together for about 11 years, married for 7. For my part, I really liked being married. It felt like I finally belonged, and could officially settle down. The wedding...

Selling fine jewelry--any ideas on how to get a fair price?

RN, Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check them out. As for the breakup, hopefully it will be for the better. I really liked being married actually, but I don't think I'll do it again.

Nationwide French protest over right to retire at age 60

I was being sarcastic, and yes, I believe it IS a reality. Look at how many US industries have been gutted over the last 30 years. But there is plenty of cheap stuff to buy at Walmart!

Selling fine jewelry--any ideas on how to get a fair price?

Taking the other side of the transaction for a moment, how would a buyer be assured of the quality of the merchandise? I guess that's one reason I discounted the ebay idea, although I know that some pretty expensive cars, etc. are auctioned there.

Selling fine jewelry--any ideas on how to get a fair price?

I thought about ebay, and I guess I will have to become more familiar with how the whole thing works, as I've never sold anything there. Thanks for the response!

Selling fine jewelry--any ideas on how to get a fair price?

Long story short, my wife and I have split up and have no need of the ring. This isn't a cheapo ring, so I wouldn't expect the average person perusing Craigslist would be a legit buyer. I wouldn't want to meet with 50 different possible buyers over the course of months/years, risk getting...

Nationwide French protest over right to retire at age 60

Maybe we should revisit the Industrial Revolution era, where the masses were working 16 hour days/7 day a week for a subsistence wage...Oh damn, I guess we ARE heading back that way, thanks to globalization opening up labor markets around the world, where billions of people are more than happy...

Rush,Hannity,The Tea party criticize Obama, but this is who they want in office

Liberal? Conservative? We should ALL be incredibly desperate. After 8 years of Bush and the rest of his cronies ended with near financial Armaggedon, Republicans were routed in the last election. Did any rational person think that an economic recovery, unemployment recovery AND national debt...

Nationwide French protest over right to retire at age 60

I would agree with this idea, except that I grew up in California, where the referendum process has greatly contributed to screwing up that state. There are simply too many voters who don't want to do the homework required for direct voting, instead relying on misleading slogans, propaganda and...

Best argument i have witnessed that is against the tea party.

You speak truth. I don't know how this Tea Party movement will work out, but I'm guessing that any TP'ers who are elected will make a little noise and then disappear, swallowed into the political system and absorbed into the Republican Party. Frankly, these TP'ers scare me because I hear a lot...

I gave up the "grail" yet he failed.

This might be the best answer yet. BTW RN, thank you for your civility! It is great to know there are still many here that are willing to add value to these forums. We've all travelled different roads to get here today, and I appreciate the chance to listen and learn--when the message has...

I gave up the "grail" yet he failed.

The "personal low" is a generalization; for one person, it may be losing $1K in a single trading day, for another, it might be turning a day-trade into an "investment" and losing half your bankroll. Think about a hot stove--the best way to learn not to touch it might be by touching it. If you...

I gave up the "grail" yet he failed.

I was thinking the same thing. It sounds like he was doing fine until a moment of weakness. Virtually every trader has been there, and I really don't think you can fully learn this business without that experience. Too much success too soon inevitably leads to overconfidence and careless risk...

Front Running Predatory Programs Need To End!

Karl, I hear you and in a practical sense, I agree with you. I did adapt to all the changes on the NYSE after the specialist system was dismantled. I quit trading. I'm not going to bitch and moan about it--the markets were changing, and most of the easy $$ trades to which I was accustomed, were...

Front Running Predatory Programs Need To End!

Why would this situation only impact traders flipping for a penny? If you miss getting a fill just as a stock is starting a move, you will likely have to chase more than "a fraction of a penny" Everybody understands there will be competition for fills. Why should traders just shut up and...

NEW - 9/11 Firefighters Reveal Huge Explosions Before Towers Collapsed

You shouldn't be so hard on the OP--he was really good in that movie where he was stalking Julia Roberts, and kept buying copies of "Catcher in the Rye". The way he rigged his apartment to burn up without damaging the rest of the building was genius!

    Good book on E-mini futures

I've never traded ES, but I did some SPY trading intraday when I wasn't busy with stock trades. It always seemed as though small moves weren't worthwhile, price was bouncing around so much that you would get shaken out of as many moves as you made $$ on. I think you are better off trying to...
