So will Monday be Black Monday for real this time?

Do you mean there won't be any Mondays in 2009??? Or the world will end this year? Pretty depressing.

its not interesting!! I hope you don't use oil as the only indicator to trade equities. some very large equity rallies have happened as commodties rallied; as it could be a sign of higher demand and economic expansion. there are way too many variables to assume anything like this. (this...

Good luck to everyone who trades this based on news; you'll need it-

Why can't "the solution" be LOWER taxes, NO deficits, SMALLER government...?

Exactly - the less garbage Congress is able to pass, the better off everyone will be at this point.

Rumor: Bright Trader blows up and loses millions

Not sure how you manage fat tails. OTM puts? The only way to do this is through some form of hedging, which will usually wipe out a high percentage of the gains you would have had over time. Gains come from risks, if you try to protect yourself from any and all risk you will be back to...

    Rule of 10 Journal

Its not about being right, its about cutting losses when you are wrong (and you will be - its unavoidable). I'm going to assume Volente doesn't post his trades because any combination of these factors: 1. its tedious 2. little benefit 3. people bitch and don't believe you anyway 4. 90%...

    Rule of 10 Journal

This journal is going nowhere because: -If you are incorrect, everyone will say it doesn't work. -Even if you are correct, you will most likely post your exit after the market has reversed and everyone will say it worked in hindsight and therefore doesn't work (See ES journal). No...

    Freddie is ruining the party

agree- it is a pretty strong showing, but the question is what kind of bs will the govt manufacture to compensate for this before the elections.

Obama touts plan to end imported oil reliance within 10 years

Ron Paul tried and look what happened, the media completely blocked him out. Influence of the media in this country is a huge problem (or should I say the complacent people living in it).

Not if the US pays you back with Bennigan's coupons.

It wouldn't have made a difference because he quoted the pizza guy comment anyway. And then you just bumped the thread. And so did I.

Obama touts plan to end imported oil reliance within 10 years

+1 Ok I see I wasn't clear enough in the other post. His campaign doesn't seem to want town hall-type forums/debates, probably because as you have pointed out - he wouldn't have the advantage of rehearsed speeches that have benefited him so far.

Obama touts plan to end imported oil reliance within 10 years

I hope so. Does anyone see how funny it is that he is going to avoid debates at all costs? He seems to excel with the "Change" speeches, but those pesky debates about actual solutions to problems will do him in.

Hopefully the implosion happens BEFORE the election.

that's true, which is why I said almost. the actual numbers are between 0.1 to -0.1 over the long term. in the short term there may appear to be correlation but this will not last. also, to be useful you'd have to predict crude prices, so why not trade crude futures at that point.

not bizarre at all. I've mentioned many times on these boards there is close to zero correlation between crude and equities. of course most don't believe it but that's not my problem. crude selling off can be very bad if it means massive future decreases in demand.
