    Black Monday ??

Now this is what ET is about. Trades and trading. The last several pages highlight how valuable this place can be to the real time trader and to the student. Good stuff guys.

    Black Monday ??

Nice going Samson'. Making money on Friday always seems to make the weekend better. I quoted your thoughts above because it's my favorite daytrade setup. Everything about it is based on sound principles. And when the primary candidate is an index, you have a ready-made list of stocks to look...

    Black Monday ??

If you were brand new to this board your concern would be legit. Now, it isn't. I know many would appreciate following your line of thinking, and that is one of the most important functions of ET... imo.

    Black Monday ??

Rubberbird thanks for the well-wishes and same to you. I know you're doing well. The "cards" statement rubs me the wrong way too. Certainly Hank should have phrased his idea differently. But he, like the rest of us, has an ego that needs attention. I don't know any humble successful trader...

samson77 I have read many of your posts so I'll respect your judgement regarding the trivializing and delete the post. I don't know yenzen, but rubberbird is a friend of mine and I appreciate his support. Thanks 'bird. Thanks samson'.

    trend following delusion shattered

I didn't know you used crossovers Hank. I have never liked them because of the delay... or a delay that I 'seemed' to perceive. I like price crossing one average better. For me the concept is simple.... a necessity in my case.... price tends to deviate from the mean. To the extent that 'price...

    trend following delusion shattered

Hank your comment here is a good one. Well at least I think so because it is the very reason that I like to use a major moving average as a reason to get in on a trend. Lol, which of course raises once again the question that has been discussed previously, and explored by ourselves...

    trend following delusion shattered

This definition is one I have never applied to "trend", ie., a probability that something will happen. That "price is trending higher", for example, has never meant to me that prices will probably continue to trend higher. I use the term trend to describe what has happened or what is...

Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

MRK monthly chart. Before you scoff and blow it off b/c of the time frame - check out the pattern, and the range so far this month. If you believe that the daily Bollis forecast expansion when they are tight, then a nice profit opportunity awaits.

rubberbird... I love that name! How you came up with that one... lol! By the tone of your posts I am assured things are going well for you. That's good to know. I'd appreciate it if you would call a top to oil prices. I bought a new boat this year and a new vehicle to tow it with. It would...

    trend following delusion shattered

I'm not angry at all. You provided a lot of value for a long time around here, and I hate to see you take away from that. Anymore it seems all you want to do is be a rabble rouser. Of course, we have our share of rabble to rouse, me included. But that's beside the point. :) You have a wealth...

    trend following delusion shattered

Asking the question and defending it further as you did implied your premise. Trying to twist the truth is a ploy that doesn't work with me. It's a path we've been down before haven't we Hank? Now... as spring approaches and temperatures rise, they don't rise linearly do they? But overall...

    trend following delusion shattered

Has anyone ever shown you a single accepted statistical test that proves the existence of a tree? Yet you look outside, see a tree, and accept that it is, indeed, a tree. After all the accusations you made about Ed Seykota..... maybe you need to look in the mirror.

Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

Thanks thin', it sure did. Your chart brings up a trading point that I have never felt comfortable with, that being when the opening occurs outside the pattern. If anything, I would enter when (if) the price moves back thru yesterday's low in this case. I have never developed a good feel for...

Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

You have it right mdl', as far as what I am thinking. I have never tested the idea so I cannot say statistically whether there is truth or not to my thoughts. However, I prefer to trade breaks that are coming out of several bars of consolidation. In LB though, it appears that price takes a one...

Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

Very nice chart, himself. I didn't know price per board-ft moved around that much. It looks like at least an NRID4. Normally I would be hesitant to trade a break following the recent volatility.... except in Lumber it looks like there isn't much consolidation, only NR days and trend days...

Yes I did, Oddi. Thanks for that info and I just sent the same back to you via PM. And thanks for keeping an eye on this thread. Your ideas are always welcome here.
