    A sign of the times?

Unfortunately, this is not sustainable. The UK has been playing this game, but, just like many other things, it seems to be coming to an abrupt and painful end. The public sector pension deficit is estimated to widen to arnd 100% of GDP in the next few years.

I'm Looking for Traders to Invest With

Sure, Doug, I am not expecting you to name any names, esp your administrator. Again, if you're seriously running this business, pls forgive my skepticism. It is not meant to offend. However, you're still not providing here anything specific that would lead me to conclude you're actually...

I'm Looking for Traders to Invest With

I am afraid you're not doing a lot to alleviate my skepticism... Surely you can be a wee bit more specific. As is, your answers above suggest that you really have no clue and are out here for some nefarious purpose. I might conceivably be your target audience, but my interest is waning...

Will participants be required to pay for this glorious training? What sort of capital do you provide to participants and on what terms? Who's your administrator?

How Long Will China Indirectly Finance Its Own Exports Via US Debt Purchases ?

It's a vicious circle for them. If they stop supporting the mkt, USTs will implode and their reserves will evaporate. Not conducive to the nation's health, especially these days.

    Preserving capital?

Aye, aye! I second that... Land (with mineral rights or not) is only good if you got guns.

European banks may need £16.3 TRILLION bail out

Let's wait to read the actual paper, shall we? It's coming out in two weeks. If there's anything I have learned during all this, is that one should never trust headlines and hearsay.

I liked his last piece a lot... It's scary, but I agree with him on many points.

European banks may need £16.3 TRILLION bail out

There's nothing secret about this... There's an actual EU Draft working paper coming out with very similar estimates. http://www.fxstreet.com/news/forex-news/article.aspx?StoryId=4ab9df5f-3d77-4e28-a552-69cf140165c0

    Where is the deflationary spiral??

Are you mad? Have you looked at the dates on your chart? Is it perhaps a coincidence that it says '1931-2006' on it? Whatever the merits of the argument you're making might be, your punchline has no relation to the chart you offer as evidence.

How the World Almost Came to an End, 9/18/08

That's right, there's all sorts of stupid sensationalist crap in these... I commented on this in a couple of threads that have since disappeared. Whoever looks at this as a giant conspiracy by the Chinese or whatever, has absolutely no idea of a) how the money markets work; b) what m-mkt...

    inflation nightmare coming?

I think it's really binary here. If things gets worse and we end up with proper deflation, we're gonna have MUCH bigger problems than UST yields. If, on the other hand, we survive, we're DEFINITELY headed for some proper inflation. The temptation is too great, as inflation is an easy and...

JWM Partners down 41.57% in 2008

They got carried out on a lot of RV trades in inflation space last year... Wasn't pretty.

90% percent of people still employed

I would have thought that proving one's point about the state of the economy using one's visit to a couple of restaurants is known to be stupid. Hmmmm, this guy must be some sort of a statistical genius to be able to make these sorts of inferences.

    Any bund intraday traders here?

I punt bunds periodically. Not a big believer in TA, though, so try to have a longer horizon. Been getting chopped pretty nastily recently, though...

Even if deflation is short term risk, what is your long term 'inflation' play?

Simple... Buy uber-cheap TIPS breakevens. More expensive now than they were, say, at the end of last year, but still cheap as chips, if you believe in proper inflation.

inflation targeting to blame for high debt

A senseless question... It is, in fact, partly to blame, just like many other aspects of the system. With the benefit of hindsight we know that the Central Banker's methodologies are flawed in a number of important ways.
