Anek, re your chart, I don't understand, "No pop up, no short. Odds in your favor." Where you said, "no bright red bars closing below prev low." point noted! That is where I took a short at 2005.75, before the earlier high of 2007.50 was taken out. The rest all makes sense...

    Anekdoten: An ET Mentor

And here I thought Duref Mudgins was a hobbit from Lord of the Rings, like Frodo Baggins. Kind of disappointing to learn its an anagram of... Sigmund Freud. Makes me want to change my username to Anal Angerpens. This interview format is a great idea; very informative and...

I have been working on the Fed statement all weekend. Got to get the wording just right. :D I expect a 25 bp cut in the fed funds rate with an attempt to apease markets by including language that expresses concern about economic weakness and will get the markets looking forward to more...

Anek, it's hard to believe (I'm not doubting you, I just am kind of shaking my head in disbelief) that anyone is seriously sending you PMs deriding you for helping others.... and giving away "trade secrets" Did traders give Richard Dennis grief for training his turtles? :D You are...

tortoise, I didn't notice but I think I know the answer. What is your definition of "fair value" ? If it is the exchange's calculation, one input to the calculation is an interest rate. They probably use today's interest rate. In fact, if they are using libor it has been pretty high...

First we must agree on what the trades are! :) The first green circle I read as a buy, followed by a red circle = sell to exit, (not a new short) Next trade is a green circle = new buy, followed by red circle = exit. Another green circle buy/red circle exit. Next red...

Goldman Global Alpha Fund Fell 22% in August, Most in Any Month

lets see, if I make 25% the first year, and then 35% the second year, and I'm up 40% the third year, and then I'm down 100% the fourth year... what's my 4 year rate of return? hint: I will remain a wealthy (but unemployed) fund manager but my investors will have lost...

boredom? I played golf this morning, then met frends for lunch. Now I am staring at the screen and risk getting into a marginal trade. No trades today. I did sell out a bond position this morning before golf. :D

Thanks, oso - I had to set my charts to "day only" and a 30 min chart (or other time bar) to clearly see the gap. I am still a little skeptical about filling the gap simply by rolling to the next contract that trades at a 10 point premium. Depends on how you construct your charts I guess.

saxon, the move was all this morning, not really "overnight" I still don't know what the "excuse" is for the runup. so what happened at 7:30 this am?

How do you guys handle the mechanics of rollover? I am talking about charts. We are supposed to be trading Z today, but the dec charts are not showing enough volume/ tics to give me a good picture using the same resolution I had for Sep.

Osorico, you totally lost me. I don't see a gap on Sep 5, and I don't understand how contract rollover creates an opportunity. Any idea what the excuse is for this morning's runup in price?

bugs and edpolten, I do the same thing, regularly. I watch and watch and wait and wait and have the "move" all figured out and by the time I enter into the trade the move is exhausted. Anek, coincidentally (or not) I just did the same thing but with dots rather than paintbars...

I like volume for the simple reason that it is additional information that is not captured by price. Just about every indicator you can slap on a screen, rsi, stochastics, momentum, is merely a clever (or not so clever) derivation of price. Volume provides additional information. You can...

Anek, I see everything you noted on your chart. The problem is I see it quite a bit after it happens.. :( The end of the day rally, "WTF I missed this" is there any rule in AHG that would let you buy into it? At that point the lowest lower high was 1993.

Thanks for the peak at your homebrew. :) So, do the dots represent bar close > prev bar high? I was looking at some of TRO's indicators on kreslick.com and (if I am translating the Greek correctly, because it's all Greek to me!) I believe he has one template that lets you plot...
