I would appreciate your opinion and feedback on my plan. I'm hooking up with a prop firm that offers a C++ API. My plan is to expose the functionality to python using SWIG, then build a GUI to connect, load strategies(python scripts), monitor positions, PNL, BP, etc. This will also be used...

I used to think that the central puzzle was figuring out whether the market was

I got smoked today because I kept getting into trades that went into the money at first, but because I was waiting for stronger moves that never came, the trades turned into losers. I can identify profitable trades and S/R levels, but I figure that by getting a good handle on volatility, my...

I used to think that the central puzzle was figuring out whether the market was

trending or range-bound. If you could forecast which of these two modes the market was in with good probability, you were golden. Now I'm thinking that question is secondary, maybe irrelevant. The chief question now is: how do I forecast volatility? Am I getting closer to enlightenment?

What do you think of using Chase-if-touched orders to exit positions?

If you have a CIT order pending, and price touches the order's level but doesn't result in a fill before moving away, the CIT order turns into a pegged order. That is, it starts following the price until it fills. I'm considering using this to only exit positions.

Keyboard support isn't listed on that spec sheet. Does NT have some kind of philosophical hangup against it?

What is the best automated support & resistance finding algorithm you've used?

I haven't found any that come even close to the human eye, but I'm curious to know which do an adequate job. I would appreciate a description of what you liked about it and where it was found.

What was the ***last*** thing you had to master before becoming profitable?

For me, it was learning to take a small loser. By that, I don't mean tight stops. Rather when I was in a trade that kept on oscillating between flat and two ticks in the money and wouldn't take off, I would close the trade. But if I was in a trade that oscillated between flat and two ticks...

Most traders should avoid FX, options, futures

I trade the ES by monitoring bar closes on four timeframes. The 4-hour, 2-hour, 30-min and 5-min. For example, a key reversal on the 4-hour that closes above a major level may be concurrent with a double bottom on the 30-min which may be concurrent with several rejections of the low on the...
