A simpler approach would be to use a moving average that has acted as an area of strength in the past. I remember the es using the 65 on the weekly - provided a reasonable support and subsequent rally from there.:)

I think Broadening formations can have either flat bottoms or expanding broadening formations (orthodox). YM has the latter while es has the first type-accompanied by the wild volatility that we saw on thick volume and the yield curve being flat and that copper is runnin, - lots of expansion...

I think most charting packages have that- what about switching to shorter time frames once the regular hours are done-eSignal shows after hours charts but not on the dailies , I usually switch to 60 minute or less for those quotes.:)

Try the consensus inc. survey or market vane . maybe put and call ratio or public short interest. lots of bias there.
