Currenex, HotSpotFxi, Lava - Pimps for the Banks? - No Scalpers

I often read how fx is unregulated, the wild west etc etc. In the UK fx is as regulated as the futures, equities and all other financial markets. If you trade with a FSA regulated firm (and all legit firms in the UK must be regulated) then there is no issue.

That is up to your prime broker/white laber provider and the deal you have agreed.

A job as foriegn exchange trader

My first job in fx was in the UK in 1988 for an annual salary of £11k. Eitghteen months later I moved on to my second job in fx and was pleased with my new salary of £16k.

Currenex, HotSpotFxi, Lava - Pimps for the Banks? - No Scalpers

When I am in the office I will have to check the agreement but I was told Currenex insisted on it being signed. It was not the original agreement but a supplementary one that had to be signed once we set up the API. I would also add that in fast markets 90% of my trades are with banks. Or...

Currenex, HotSpotFxi, Lava - Pimps for the Banks? - No Scalpers

But the point is people who trade fx via futures tend to belittle anyone who does not, frequently use terms like 'bucket shop' to try and make out that the place they trade is superior. Of course there are bucket shops and these should be avoided. Interestingly if the futures market is so...

Currenex, HotSpotFxi, Lava - Pimps for the Banks? - No Scalpers

Its a fair cop! My point was that I don't understand why people post stuff purporting to be fact when it is no such thing, and is often wrong. By all means post an opinion but don't pretend it is factual. I also get really fed up with all the 'supporters' of futures making out that it...

Currenex, HotSpotFxi, Lava - Pimps for the Banks? - No Scalpers

There is so much rubbish on this thread. And I am afraid that currenex (which is a platform I like) do warn people off who trade in fast markets. I would also point out that is you use their API you have to sign a disclaimer that says you wont use to it arb. I don't so doesn't matter to me...

    Barx

Barclays does have its own system which is nothing to do with Currenex. I used it years ago when I was trading for someone else and an ex colleague still does. I seem to recall he likes it very much although think it goes quite wide over figures.

For those of you thinking of scalping or Trading the News

Never ceases to amaze me how many people think there is only one (usually there) way to trade or one firm/market place you should trade through.

It wasnt what I was told 2 years ago. Then I was told they are stale quotes, the platform freezes and so the prices don't really exist. I dare say the only thing to do is set up another account and see if it has changed.

Not with hotspot no although to be fair over the past few months I have found their spreads too wide in fast or volatile markets. People talk about a 10 second delay in confirmation with EFX - I don't know if that is true or not but it would be totally unacceptable.

I am sorry I have to disagree with you completely. I am surprised that if you have 3 decades of fx experience you are not aware of the ACI code of conduct for forex which specifically states that traders should not deal on out of court prices. As to the locking of prices -sadly when I was...

Because of 2 things I imagine. 1) you need some ethics - trading on out of court prices is wrong. 2) the chances are that you couldnt trade on the wrong price anyway and so if you wanted to go long you would not have a clue at what level you could. Sadly this was exactly the same issue I...
