    Lightspeed vs. Interactive Brokers/IB

They let me pay 20% tax on my IRA withdrawal at the end of the year (as opposed to withholding it upon the withdrawal).

Will do. Although it will be a couple of weeks before my IRA account is opened and then another 2 weeks to a month before the IRA account is closed and the daytrading account is fully setup.

    Lightspeed vs. Interactive Brokers/IB

Thanks to all the posters and Euler in particular. I'm going to go with Lightspeed (there is another thing tax-wise they can do for me that IB has refused to). After I get more experience (and hopefully more money) I will check out Genesis and Assent as well.

    Lightspeed vs. Interactive Brokers/IB

Thanks for the advice but that won't work for me. I don't want to trade more than one stock at a time, let alone split my attention between two brokers. Not to mention I would need 50 grand instead of 25 to be able to daytrade with both.

    Lightspeed vs. Interactive Brokers/IB

Do you know whether their execution speed is better than Lightspeed's?

    Lightspeed vs. Interactive Brokers/IB

Thank you, very much, for this info. At this point I am open to any advice or piece of information. The more the better. Feel free to share any trading-related bit you'd like. So to recap, the SMART vs. exchange specific order differs mainly in fees, not in speed of the execution, correct...

    Lightspeed vs. Interactive Brokers/IB

Thank you for the answer. Yes, I will be doing a relatively small volume (at least to start). The account probably will have around $25-30K and at that amount I doubt I will excede a million shares a month. As for what I will be doing... At the moment I am practicing on the Lightspeed demo...

    Lightspeed vs. Interactive Brokers/IB

I am about to open a daytrading account and I narrowed it down to 2 brokers: Interactive Brokers and Lightspeed. I'm wondering if there are people who prefer Lightspeed to IB and why? Lightspeed appears to be slightly more expensive but I do like their platform better (perhaps because I...

Yes, I am. And a US citizen. And while I'm not happy about the PDT bullshit (and a lot of other crap, especially the last 8 years) I wouldn't live anywhere else. Sorry, Belgium. :D

Yes, if you can post (or PM me) a list of these brokers that would be greatly appreciated. I am at the stage where I try to get as much information as possible. I read everything and then sift through it once I feel I know enough to make an informed decision. Please do PM me the futures...

I am actually reading a book on futures right now. But I'm not sure it's for me. Stocks seem more straight forward. What's a good place to try a futures demo?

OK, so in other words if I use all the money in my account to buy a stock I can't do anything after selling it for 3 days? Wow. The $25K rule is bad enough, now this? Me not happy. :(

What makes you think I think I'm ready for trading? Can somebody just answer the question please?

    SEC $25k minimum

Sorry if I sound like a retard but what you just said appears to be a contradiction. You say I can buy and sell whenever but on the other hand the money is not available for another trade for 3 days. If money is not available for another trade, how can I buy a stock whenever? Can somebody answer...

Thanks for the answer. But can you please tell me if I have a non-margin account, am I able to buy a stock today and sell it tomorrow? Also can I sell a stock and buy another one the next day? Or do I have to wait 3 days before I can do either one of those things?

    SEC $25k minimum

What does that mean? Does it mean I can't sell it for 3 days? Sorry, I'm new to this - just trying to learn things.
