    Are stop orders always sent

Thanks Gene. What do you suggest for my situation on Nasdaq stocks if anything? I need the safety of being able to walk away from the screen without adding risk to my money management plan. Perhaps on Nasdaq that won't be possible? At least I'll know.

    Are stop orders always sent

That's what I thought. I got shook out of a position recently and it occured to me that my practice of placing stops durinf the day so I can more safely stop watching intraday might be helping the MM know where he can get my shares (and anyone elses). I'd rather risk disconnection on my end...

    Are stop orders always sent

----------------------- I assume you mean a broker like Schwab, BrownCo, etc., and if so, they either make a market in the particular stock you're interested in, or they sell their order flow to a few retail MM's like NITE and HRZG. With normal "brokers" you don't have a choice of route...

2nd Hard Drive V.S. New System

Quote: Niterider, since you have PC experience let me ask you: are there any cons/things I should be very careful about if I'm getting a second hard drive? Your entire preliminary post was about partitioning one hard drive, so I'm wondering if you think getting a 2nd hard drive is a bad idea...

2nd Hard Drive V.S. New System

I cannot comment on your ET software as I have no knowledge of it specifically. Far as dual boot goes vs. performance of the PC itself, it will not make any difference. Win2000 does require a lot of ram and CPU speed to run fast however. I'll assume you checked out the requirements for win2000...

2nd Hard Drive V.S. New System

If you wish to keep your win98 while still having win2000 simply set it up to dual boot. Make sure you have a hard drive with major space as win2000 is about a gig installed + win98 about 200MB + space for all your other programs etc. Fdisk your blank hard drive creating 2 partitions to make...

    Are stop orders always sent

Are stop orders always sent on to the broker's choice of MM of that stock or to the route you may choose? What I'm getting at is if I want to setup a stop order because I currently trade at work and (amazingly enough) they expect me to actually do some work while I'm there, am I basically...

Trading for a living is the best job ever!

I'm not trying to offend you but in case you didn't know: You can get a 500MB website space for $40 setup and $9.95/month. A URL yoursitename.com runs about $20 a year through many registration services with 5 email addresses. So for $70 up front and then $10 a month you could look far more...

    Opinions needed for TA combinations

Thanks so much! Those replies were not what I expected and that means my tendancy was going in the wrong direction. I appreciate your help. I realize I will lose money learning but it will be a lot less if I'm not wasting it testing 20 different methods to find the ones that work best...

    Opinions needed for TA combinations

Although I realize the answers to this question may be more opinion oriented than "right" or "wrong" I'm looking for some suggestions. What is a good mix of technical methods to use for choosing entry and exit points of a stock for swing trading? For example: Candlestick patterns with a...

    Am I unwelcome here?

I was actually trying to avoiding starting a new bashing thread about IB by cutting into the thread but keeping the subjects in order makes sense. Took me by surprise was all. Thanks for the reply.

    Am I unwelcome here?

Never mind! I see now. The post was moved! I've posted to mssg boards for years. Never had a post moved. Sorry for my ignorance of how things are managed here.

    IB Customer Service

Hello Def. I'm new to this board and am interested in moving my account to IB but after a simple email asking some questions went unanswered I'm a bit hesitant. Not trying to pick a fight or stir anything up but can you suggest the best route for a prospective customer to ask private questions...
