Epic Fail author Sarah Lewis' KQED radio interview

This is pretty short sighted. Obviously the end goal should not be failure and/or continual losing - but one learns through quite a bit through failure. It's how they translate that into success that matters.

    CL Redux

So GS says oil is going down and they've been continually reminding us of this. One should never trust GS - they'll be on the other side of the trade as you get skinned alive and there's zero benefit for them to reveal a true prediction. On the other hand, there's a lot of "the bottom is in!! go...

Feb 20th 2015 SPY $215 Calls Open Interest

Might also want to check the aggregate OIs of strikes around that as well. It's possible that these are part of spreads rather than being a single strike where everyone is piling into long calls.

CFTC Reviewing Retail Forex Trading Rules Following FXCM Debacle

My hope is that they don't change a damn thing. The only healthy change would be to increase margins on pegged or otherwise manipulated currencies. That makes sense. A knee-jerk "retail doesn't know how to protect themselves, therefore let's a make a change which screws with retail yet still...

    Trading NQ via Price Action

Sorry, I left a note in there about being premarket which was just plain wrong as I had my times mixed up. It was during market time - and that lends even more weight to the "a decision has been made around the longer term trend edge" IMO. The only thing I traded NQ-wise during that day was the...

    Trading NQ via Price Action

I'd say that 50% figure is a *rough guide only*. It's not a hard and fast rule. If it were it would work 100% of the time, and it obviously doesn't. It's a signal, meant to be combined with other signals, but not an "if this, do that 100% of the time" signal. There's other things going on which...

CME To Close Most Trading Pits

Also, while I don't disagree that ES has way more volume - those contract numbers can't be compared 1:1 due to the relative size differences of ES vs SP.

An evening with crude and a beer

A couple screw ups in there: * Bad entry on last shoulder of obvious (after the fact) HS. * Holding on too long and getting greedy resulting in a loss. * Chased entries and other assorted lameness. That being said, I was happy to be lined up for that insane parabolic spike and had no qualms...

CME To Close Most Trading Pits

This seems mostly targeted at index futures. I presume other popular non-CME specific pits are still to remain open?

I'm back! Trying to trade NQ

Using charts does not mean that one just entirely relies on patterns. There's other highly relevant data present in a chart.

Are you a successful at home day trader with no other source of income who began with modest means?

I see no reason to doubt your words and congrats on the hard work paying off and keeping your relative modesty about it. Ignore the majority of disbelievers who refuse to acknowledge another person's success due to their own issues.

Are you a successful at home day trader with no other source of income who began with modest means?

Dude were you even around in 99-2000? The markets *really were* that ridiculously easy for people to make money trading dot.com stuff. It was absolutely insane - and that's why it crashed so hard.

    FXCM LOSES ALL EQUITY

MS, while I do agree that this inside information isn't FXCM specific, wouldn't you agree though that any individuals/organizations heavily shorting FXCM (which is an equity) prior to the SNB announcement would be acting on non-public information of a pretty significant sort (the decision of a...

    FXCM LOSES ALL EQUITY

So one has to wonder if someone might have known something prior to the 15th or if it was just a "coincidence...": Compare volume of the proceeding days as well. The 14th had magnitudes more compared to previous days: The only possible explanation (aside from the unspoken obvious) was...

Ultra hd 55inch tv screen as an additional monitor?

Probably cannot be driven at an adequate refresh rate - plus it's just going to probably look like crap unless it's multiple feet away.

    FXCM stock discussion

I'm not holding this for 6 months. I already closed out the short side puts and the majority of my calls. The remainder are entirely risk free with all initial exposure entirely removed and some alright profits taken. At the size I went, we were talking an initial 2000$ or so risk in the worst...

Ex. Galleon guy blows 100 million dollar hedge fund in 4 weeks.

The language was "Owen Li, the founder of Canarsie Capital in New York, said Tuesday he had lost all but $200,000 of the firm's capital—down from the roughly $100 million it ran as of late March." So in reality he's probably been running this into the ground for months.

Not a bad call. I took a gamble (yes, gamble, I said it!) myself.

Controlling heart rate in a trade

Autonomic nervous system response to loss aversion. This means you're worried about the loss - and that's a problem needing a solution. Reduce size or become comfortable with being wrong - because there's zero possibility of being right consistently.
