    How to Learn Price Action

Thanks, Dustin! This has been one of the true "Value Threads" here on ET! Glad yuo had a good day!

    Esignal disapointment.

Ok, today set a new record LOW! eSignal froze up on numerous occassions - some more than 30 seconds, AND managed to dissconnect itself TWICE in the last five minutes of trading! My MM windows on my platform were working just fine, and my wife sitting next to me was working uninterrupted on...

    Esignal disapointment.

Ideally, any symbol for indicies, or anything else would have the same type of volume display now available for individual equities.

    Esignal disapointment.

I appreciate the response, Scott. I've been with eSignal for about 18 months now, and some of these problems - freezing, etc - are relatively new for me. Any idea as to when the server upgrades, and thus intraday indicie volume might be available?

    Esignal disapointment.

Thanks - I'll give it a try. I'm just getting more and more, shall we say, "displeased" with eSignal. Today I'm at my other job (1 day a week), and look at Yahoo Finance. Yahoo has real, cumulative volume for 5 minute charts on the Dow. I contact LiveRep and apparently, eSignal's deal...

    Anyone use Bloomberg?

Anyone use this for remote equities/futures trading (so NOT at a firm, but home office)? If so, is it worth the cost? What do yuo pay? After dealing with eSignal on these high volume/volatility days, and the problems (exactly the days you don't want them, of course), I'm interested in...

    Esignal disapointment.

Last few days have had trouble getting T&S Windows to load - keeps say Req Sent, while I wait and wait and wait... Also, have had the system just freeze up for up to 60 seconds at a time...no quotes, then my MM windows and eSignal are WAY out of alignment. Since I execute through the MM...

Craziest Stories On The Trading Floor

Another favorite trick of the locals when trading was really slow was to trade one contract back and forth between people to move the price up or down a number of ticks, get prints on the board, and make it appear like the price was rising or falling. Often, after doing this, paper would...

Craziest Stories On The Trading Floor

Was a newer floor trader in futures about 11 years ago. I'd walked off the floor for a few minutes, and upon strolling back on, noticed the contract I had been trading was rallying. One of the bigger prick broker/paper fillers was offering, but without specifying his size. I was a 1-5 lot...

Nope, this is the only forum I'm on, and I go months at a time without being here even.

Nice article - thanks! See a LOT of what I've been through in this!

How many of yuo learned on yuor own?

That was actually pretty clever - well done! Yuo've been here on ET for some time now, can yuo share some thoughts on the question about learning?

How many of yuo learned on yuor own?

Actually, I am. Now, having gotten that terribly pertinent piece of ground covered, can we get back to the original question?

How many of yuo learned on yuor own?

Did any of yuo do this? Interested in hearing how many of yuo learned on yuor own. Not what yuo learned, but the way yuo learned it. No mentors, just yuo and whatever reading and independant research - of what ever sort - yuo did to become profitable. Again, WHAT yuo learned isn't...

Ticks, points - what am I missing??

Thank yuo, Brownsfan and Swordsman! I did figure out what Gary Smith is doing - he's calling every .01 change a "point." So using his terminology, going from 400.00 to 402.00 is a 200 point change. This is what he meant by a "200 point stop." This would be 40 ticks on the full-sized S&P...

Ticks, points - what am I missing??

Thanks for thr reply - that actually answered another question I had. Ok, I'm reading West of Wall Streeet by Barry Haigh (again), and also Live the Dream by Gary Smith. In Gary's book, the S&P (early 90's ) was in the 400's apparently. He talks about a "200 point stop," BUT when I look...

Ticks, points - what am I missing??

Ok, it's late and I'll admit this is a dumb question, but my brain just doesn't seem to be getting this one. (Hopefully, I' ll wake up tomorrow and slap my forehead for being so thick right now!) The S&P trades where: 1 tick = .05 points So, 20 ticks = 1.00 points At $25 per tick, this is...

    messed up quotes

I have eSignal, too, and this has now been discussed on numerous threads. THe wild bars are from the late prints on NMS trades. THe charting program just draws the bars as the prints appear, so they are unusually wide, and jump back and forth 10, 20, 50 or more cents at a time sometimes.

    AMD on LSD

Yuor charts are being drawn like this because of late NMS prints. Go back and look at the T&S, especially before noon. Yuo'll see all kinds of NMS prints going off that have no relation to the inside market. THe charts program just draws these as they appear, so the bars jump all over the...
