FIVe sec refresh on Open Book

P.S. to last mail.....all NYSE has to do now is remove that one statement in their code stream, that reads "SLEEP (5)".

NYSE Open Book 10 second Delay

Thanks for that, Avalanche. Obviously, the 5 second delay made no impact on me whatsoever.....LOL ! 5 seconds, 10 seconds, there is no difference. When's the realtime feed coming ? Probably by the year 2050.....of course, NYSE may be out of business well before then.

    12.2 baud ???? And they claim to me technologically advanced.......ha ! What a crock of **** !!!!

NYSE Open Book 10 second Delay

Just talked to a person from my market feed vendor, and they confirmed that the main reason for the feed's 10 second delay is political - i.e., opposition to the feed to begin with from NYSE and the Specialist firms. NYSE also claims "technology issues" as a basis for the 10-second delay...

Where's Elaine Chow?, when you need her...

If you are looking for assistance from Elena Chow, you are really desperate. She is a total nitwit, IMO. A babbling Harvard grad. Mark Haynes, who isn't the brightest light in the world, makes mince meat out of her, whenever she's on CNBC. I've never heard such babble come out of someone's...

How do you get filled on NYSE stocks?

"Larger size helps get better fills as well." I strongly disagree. Larger size tends to move the bid/ask further in the direction of the order, and encourages front-running (aka, "price improvement").

How do you get filled on NYSE stocks?

Guru, Learn to deal with the inequities of the NYSE. Specialists are constantly abusing the system "legally" to line their pockets with profits. Today's HP news is huge ! IMO, it is the beginning of the end of the NYSE as we know it today. Failure of the NYSE to bring their biz...

"the daytrader is dead" - AMTD CEO

Ameritrade is awful for Day Trading. Perhaps to the occasional investor, it is acceptable. You can't trade NYSE well w/Ameritrade, since everything goes to ISLAND. Only if you are best bid/offer, do trades get routed to NYSE. This effectively means that you can only trade at best bid/offer...

    Niederhoffer new book

I have to admit that his book, "Education of a Speculator", which came highly recommended, was a total waste of time, IMO. It was abstract, esoteric, and very hard to follow, IMO. I quit half way through it, because I was getting nothing out of it. I truly found nothing in it, that helped...

The tide is turning for the specialists!!!

Let's continue with Price Improvement, which gives the Specialists a license to steal. Let's continue to live in the dark ages, and allow this elitist group continue to make healthy profits for their parent firms and themselves. Let's continue to wear the blindfold, gang ! NOT...

    Nasdaq/NYSE Merger

CNBC just stated that the rumor is unfounded, based on Nasdaq's response.

    Cable/DSL Dual Router

I have 2 Internet connections on my computer: One Broadband cable, and the other a dial-up line. Both are active at once. I run Windows 2000 and have .cmd scripts (triggered via DOS icons) that set my route to one or the other. If my broadband goes down, I can switch to the other one very...

    95% of traders fail???

I heard on CNBC a while back, that 70% of Day Traders fail. Again, not sure exactly who is considered a Day Trader. Did it include the deli worker down the block, who opened up an eTrade account during the late 1990's, and traded a few dot bombs ? I dunno. In any event, I have been a...

    Daytrading for starters

I would not recommend starting out with Penny Stocks. Very volatile, and can wipe you out quickly. I would start with some stable NYSE or NAS issues first. But, I agree with others in that you should read about a half dozen books on Trading first. Education is essential, and may save you...

    CALPERS Files Lawsuit vs NYSE

chasinfla, Beg to differ with you on this, but the Specialist NEVER takes undue risk. Look at the big market downturns in recent history - 1987 and 2000-2002 ring a bell - the Specialists were no where to be found when stocks plummetted. They did not take on extra risk to mitigate the...

    CALPERS Files Lawsuit vs NYSE

Yes, great post, downtick. I don't totally disagree with Mecro, and do understand his stance. However, talking about others not having a clue, is truly ignorant. Of course we have a clue - we do the same thing for a living that you do. Eyes wide open. Downtick is correct - if you were...

    CALPERS Files Lawsuit vs NYSE

Mecro, Everyone has an opinion, and you obviously have yours. :D To quote you: The NYSE is supposed to be a public institution, and not behave like a private one. Although the SEC regulates, the NYSE's charter says that they are supposed to maintain a fair and orderly...

    CALPERS Files Lawsuit vs NYSE

Anyone on this board that doubts the Specialist/NYSE culpability should trade thin liquidity NYSE stocks for one day. You will understand the sentiment after things that you see in this environment, that you don't have time to see with liquid stocks. I strongly recommend that everyone go...

    CALPERS Files Lawsuit vs NYSE

It's about time.....kudos to Calpers for having the gutts to do this. Everyone knows that the NYSE and the Specialist firms are part of an elite club to make money. A system that has a "governing" body, whose mission is also to turn a profit, is bound to be corrupt. I just can't believe...
