    True lies about Fibonacci

Well, if this proves anything it is in the first place that this PHI number is very universal indeed. As for your esoteric interests we all do know them, but how about the practical results you derive from them? The devil may be in details, but the value of any scientific framework is in its...

Software to keep a dial-up connection alive

There is indeed a very similar thing in WinXP, I just noticed it. You can set up the idle time before the system disconnects you. I am setting it up to 4 hours, let's see if it will work. Thanks for that tip.

Software to keep a dial-up connection alive

Thanks for your advice. Now, my Win95 was tweaked by me and so was very stable almost as NT and yet consuming less resources. I would use it at home, but at work I would use NT that was a big resources hog, although it was still stable. You could run many programs at once with no problems...

Software to keep a dial-up connection alive

and your advice. You know, I am one of the greatest non-conformists that I have met in my life, :D so no wonder that I would rather tweak my Win98SE than buy XP because I had used Win NT in the past and had not found it that superior to Win 95. Same with the DSL, I have been so happy with...

Software to keep a dial-up connection alive

I have finally switched to WinXP Pro. I am not necessarilly thrilled by this new system. My new puter runs smoother than the old one under Win98SE, but that's what you should expect from a computer 4 times faster and equipped with almost twice as much RAM as the old one. Yet, I have already...

How good is the ADX indicator?

Indeed, very useful when used 'properly', and that's the keyword. I think it beats CCI (very liked by some and overrated to me) and it is certainly as good if not better than stochastics.

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

If someone suffers from this problem it is clearly you, not me. You had nothing else to add to this thread than to note that I had mentioned that I have a Ph.D. in physics. A few other folks said they had Ph.D.s in mathematics. I see nothing wrong about it and except you apparently no-one else...

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

I think that scientists are getting increasingly humbler... yes, a few times they proclaimed the end of science, that is they believed there was nothing more to discover and what was left was only to apply the known laws of physics. There is still a strong belief among some scientists that the...

Let me guess, science is simpler than trading?

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

Do you drive a car, do you watch TV, do you use a computer? Well, these are things that would be impossible without that pure science. It was pure before it became applied. Computers as we know them now would not be possible without our understanding of quantum mechanics that underlies our...

    entry/exit tools for IB

I second that, very nice piece of work. I have yet to check out the latest version, but the last one I saw was very nice. I am hoping that the real action version will be good too.

What an INCREDIBLY easy day today!!!

Yeah, in retrospect it was easy, not so for my system that did so so today: YM up, ES down. It get wipsawed a bit because of the tight range during the first few hours.

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

This one is by Paul Davies, 'The Mind of God' and is one of the best books on this subject I have ever read. It is a popular book, everyone can read it. Davies is an accomplished theoretical physicist and also a decent philosopher, although not a professional one. He has written a number of...

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

The most remarkable thing about Nature is that it can be understood at all. In principle, there is nothing 'scientific' about it, yet we can understand it in terms of science. Whether Nature is 100% 'scientific', that is if it can be completely understood by science remains to be seen and we may...

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

is 'The Structure and Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics' by R.I.G. Hughes. I happened to get a copy signed by the author. This is a book for those who are not afraid of mathematics, yet the math formalism is introduced in a very simple way. The book can be suitable for philosophers, in...

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

These are books for physics majors, they may not be appropriate for someone whose background in math is limited, although Sakurai, as far as I recall it, starts from the very basics of mathematical formalism. They are good for those who want to know how to practically apply QM. To understand it...

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

I mentioned two in this thread already. Let me repeat this for your convenience: 1. Quantum Reality by Nick Herbert 2. The Infamous Boundary by David Wick Both are very suitable for an educated layman and will give you a better picture of the fundamental difference between the uncertainty...

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

You are mixing philosophy with science. Nature is intrinsically uncertain in the sense that you can make only probabilistic statements and there is no way to get around this. That's what science says. Whether this will ever change remains to be seen, but this is not because our understanding is...
