The Beginning of Giving Houses Away.

550k gets you too much in Michigan. Mine is 3750 sq ft, 4 car side garage, 2 story all brick on all sides with an extra 800 square ft 3rd floor for a total of 4550 sq ft plus a full basement, and 110x160 lot. On tv I see crap like in Georgia one story 1600 sq ft going for over $400k. It's...

The Beginning of Giving Houses Away.

Not all States have gone up, here in Michigan my home has been valued at $550,000 for the past 6 years. If things pick up here it can double and still just be catching up to most States. Either way, the population is growing, immigration continues. People need a place to live and property is...

The Beginning of Giving Houses Away.

I'll take $100,000 off the price of my home after I raise it $120,000 first. LOL

Surge Protectors In Another Surge Protector

Wow, I've been doing this for years and never thought anything of it. I actually thought I was getting more protection. It's got to be better than nothing though. I'll have to see if I can re route the wires.

Burned CDs last only 2 years, avg.

I've always used Imation for CDR's, nothing special and they all still work. I might actually have some discs much older than 6 years. A few years back I bought a used BMW 740il with a 6 CD changer that when I got home I found the changer filled with CDR's that are in terrible condition worn...

Burned CDs last only 2 years, avg.

Hogwash. Every single one of my CDR's are still perfect even after 6 years, this blows his theory to hell. Is this guy for real? Magnetic tapes? I transferred everything important to DVD to get away from magnetic tape garbage. I would be very surprised if CDR's last anything less than 20-50...

    I HATE the new CNBC!

I hate the new ticker that shows the full company, it's terrible. "Unemployed, hungry? Eat your Japanese car."

    New IRS schedule D requirements

BTW Looking back I can't believe I got a dividend on SMH. I didn't know they paid dividends. Question: In the future if I am short during a dividend payout, do I have to pay? Is there such thing as a reverse dividend?

    New IRS schedule D requirements

Copy and paste the trades directly to a word document. Create the required heading and columns and totals and they are actually getting even more info than they want such as time and running balance. I don't see a problem with going with a 8 font, maybe even 6 if necessary and printing on both...

    Scottrade streaming data off?

Thanks, I might end up starting a small account at Scottrade to get their real time again if I can't live with 2 digit Level 2. Glad to hear Scottrade improved lately, they were pretty bad a few years ago for trading reliability.

    Scottrade streaming data off?

I would like to know if anyone that uses Scottrade streamer if it works real time. I might have to deposit money in Scottrade to get it working again. I don't know. All I can say is I tried Izone data and it sucks, it only goes out to 2 digits after the decimal while Scottrade goes 3 and 4...

    Scottrade streaming data off?

I only have an account at Scottrade to get data. I trade through Izone at $5 a trade. I go in with $100,000 per trade so IB in not an option for me, way too expensive commissions.

    Scottrade streaming data off?

The price is right and when it works is more than I need anyway. I use Level 2 for order entry and the streamer from Scottrade fed into Medved Quotetracker even though it's a second or less behind does a fine job with a chart. Today it's like 20 minutes off. Might be time to move elsewhere.

    Scottrade streaming data off?

Seems to be way off track. Anyone else experience this today?

worlds greatest investor does not use fancy tools

He bought and dumped Level 3 corp for a 100% profit in a few months. So I call that trading. If he's not using a computer, I'm sure he's getting information from someone somewhere that is using a computer.

    Advice on car

That's right, being a good coaster does not mean it will get better than a car that is not. What I am guessing is that it will do better than the stated MPG for that vehicle. When they test cars for MPG, they basically drive the cars relatively the same, so coasting or low drag coefficient is...

    Losing Money

    Advice on car

From my experience, the trick to knowing whether a car will get the stated MPG or more is in the test drive. Make sure before you buy a car that you test how good of a coaster it is. Driving about 45 MPH and let go of the gas and see how far it glides. My mothers 2002 Hyundai Sonata...

"GM bankruptcy not a remote possibility"

Consumer reports are good for the garbage can after 6 months. Totally meaningless. If you want to get an idea of how durable a car is after the initial 6 month quality reports go check used cars at autotrader.com and see which cars have the most miles on them. I guarantee you it will not be...

GM - what are the chances of bankruptcy?

I've traded GM in the past but not yet touching this drop. I think it has a ways to go possibly so why risk it. "Unemployed, hungry? Eat your Japanese car".
