    Trading can be easy

I agree Ditch. This is why I don't post setups or offer % winners, etc. Too many people here just attack anything. If they don't agree they should either just ignore it or say thanks, but I don't see how this works... Thanks for the post. I use a similar pullback strategy (but different...

    Please help on ES questions

If you live anywhere near a prop firm that trades futures, you may wish to join one for awhile. Your costs will be higher, but you will learn much faster! You may even be able to do this before working a regular job depending on where you are. (West coast would mean something like 6:30 to 8:00...

    Quality of Intraday Data Providers

Q Charts uses 24 hour data for their historical data on futures, and they may do this with stocks as well, although I haven't checked. The best historical data I have ever seen is CSI. Although originally a commodities data base, they have stocks now as well. The data is very clean, but a...

    Newbie Trading Log

I'd go with a smaller trade and put the stop just below the 9.90 support. Jay

    Please help on ES questions

Actually you could trade 5 on an intraday basis. Trading anything more than one without extensive knowledge of the market would be pretty quick suicide. I agree with others that you may wish to start trading ETF's as you will lose money slower. Jay

What's the BEST time to trade?

If you are doing well the first half hour than stick to it. I find the first 20 minutes or so hairy, and only trade during this time when fading gaps. The next hour or so is the best in my opinion. the close is usually pretty good too. Jay

    What's the June contract symbol?

    There are after hours symbols that many contracts use as well: A - Jan B - Feb C - Mar D - Apr E - May I - Jun L - Jul O - Aug P - Sep R - Oct S - Nov T - Dec

    this market

I'd say ten grand. Stick to single contracts until you are making money, or you will burn through that ten k pretty quick. I use IB's TWS for a trading platform as do many in this forum. jay

    Dangerous Times Ahead

I was new to trading during the 1987 crash, and trading full S&P contracts. It was hairy. I sat in shock most of day (and following three or so), but my trading partner was trading like crazy. He made a bundle on crash day, and gave it all back the next day. I am such a short term trader now...

    IB disconnection

I also use a cable connection and almost never lose my connection. I always have a stop in anyway in case a connection does fail or major shit hits the wires. Jay

    increasing page file memory

thanks guys. I run XP and 768 MB ram. I'll set the page file to a gig. I don't care if I use HD space. I only use this computer for trading and web surfing and have gobs of unused space. Jay

    IB disconnection

I haven't had any problems at all. I got dumped for a few minutes about two weeks ago. Perfect otherwise. BTW, I am logged on all day, every day. Jay

    increasing page file memory

Quick Q for you techies. I'm increasing my RAM and need to bump up the page file also. Its now set to 'custom'. Should I just change this to "system managed", or increase the custom numbers? Also, can I just pick any custom figure I want, or do they have to be some multiple? yeah, maybe this...

    Throwing in the towel

That is why many traders are shifting to futures. With the leverage added, there is plenty of movement to make (or lose) serious bucks days trading. Jay

    Brights Ratings

This is true only if you are used to trading stocks, and the way futures move causes your performance to suffer. There are MANY advantages to trading futures actually (taxes, execution, cost, leverage, etc.). Jay

    How does anyone do this?

Thats how I have always traded. Nothing else makes sense to me. You can see what is going on with the prices moving around. Statistical indicators don't "mean" anything to me, and I know what they will look like by looking at a graph anyway. However, I do use a few stat tools when I don't have...

I was just buying dips most of the morning, just off some simple trendlines and Fib retracements. Real simple stuff. jay

CNBC actually helped today. As soon as I found out what the mess was about, I went into a buying frame of mind. I love those days where a rumor or something strange causes big, over extended moves. Jay
