The only reason I tried market orders with IB was b/c a trusted (past tense) source told me they were very good fills; maybe he meant fast?
Another problem I've encounter with TWS:
I wasn't able to trade via the rapid order panel, the error said "Your account isn't allowed/setup to trade...
How much slippage did you get? What stock was it? What time
of day? I always use limit orders so don't know how much
slippage would be normal for an IB Best execution market order.
But it would be interesting to know how much slippage you had.
Traded BRCM between 9:30 - 11:30.
Slippage...
I'm new to IB. I was kind of surprised today with the fills I received using "BEST" market orders. I've heard they were suppose to be very good but I think I'll stick with limit orders from now on.
Does anyone else feel this way, or is slippage ok with most IB Best, market order users. I've...
One more question.
If im long 200 shrs, can I get short by selling 400 shrs of the same stock; instead of doing two trasactions to get short (200 to cover long + 200 to get short).

Are stop orders held in the software or are they sent as soon as they are created?
Can orders of held positions be executed via the "account info" or "executions" page?
If i place a stop order, but decide to exit my position prior to the stop, will both a market and limit order cancel my...

I'm wondering if we need to create a order entry line for each exchange we want to route to or is there a hot key to specify this?
I wouldn't seen practicle to to do this with every stock your watching?
I'm assuming that most people that use IB also use additional software for quotes and charting. With that said, would it make sense or be possible to some how disable the quote source w/in IB's trader work station to save bandwith and processor power.
Also, has IB though about partnering...
fleance,
I have not yet started my IB acct yet, but I think your suggestions are very good. The rapid order entry makes alot of sense. Hopefully Def is listening?
Does anyone have experience with wall st city's stock scanner and charting software? Some of there stuff looks like medved qtracker. Anyway, I'm asking b/c I'm looking for software that will alert me to realtime trading opportunities.
Not sure How good Qcharts or Cyberquant is either...
Thanks for all the help so far.
Sounds like there may be some debate between
best ecn, best, and Super soes?
Do most of you guys use market orders? Will IB hang ya out to dry on market orders (execute way away from the inside quote)
Thks
