1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

This makes a lot of sense, of course. I'm speculating about her content being from higher up only because it's the producer in the control room, not the infobabe on your screen, who has the final say about what goes out on air. Are they going to let one employee risk an inadvertent...

Prominent ICU Doctor: H1N1 influenza "most frightening thing I've seen in my career"

Yeah, just imagine the worst thing that could possibly happen, stop all intelligent action due to fear, go hide under your bed and let the wrecking crew roll over you.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

The biggest beneficiaries of this tax would no doubt be GS and their fellow chieftains of the new global financial paradigm. In fact, they're the only ones, because no taxes can be collected from a profession that no longer exists.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Paradoxically, if this tax went into effect, virtually no one would pay it because the retail trader would go extinct.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

In case this hasn't been mentioned, something else to point out when attacking this thing is that the tax revenue generated would not a percentage of the trade volume we currently see, but rather of the much lower levels due to the resulting dry-up of liquidity.

    Outstanding article must read.

That's a weird way of putting it. A better way would be: Protectionism is about competitively managing the way YOU trade in order to advantage your own industrial base.
