    Define “Edge”

I finally found my edge... a strategy that I have a 69% win ratio. However, I had to fail and fail over and over with all kinds of strategies in order to have enough data to figure out that one strategy that gave me an edge. I had 2 years worth of trades journaled on spreadsheets and over 1000...

    Finding my way

well said...and yes I fell victim to the "new shiny thing" syndrom... no more. I just backtested trades that met my criteria that I did not take. Yes, this strategy works. Yes, I am sticking to it. It is a about time I focused on one setup and work it, no more system jumping.

Taking profits and letting winners contradiction

I cannot stress this enough.... it just feels awesome to take a profit and have that money safely sitting in cash. VS. the stress of holding out for more POTENTIAL profit. How many trades have we all had that went from a nice profit (25% - 50%) to see us exit at break even or worse a loss...

    Fading the Gap

oops... meant ticker rolls over. I use awesome oscillator. I look for a cross over below the zero line on a five minute chart. that is my entry. same for exit, a cross over the zero line. Now as to spreads...yes spreads can be nasty especially in the first 30 mins for options, that works...

    Finding my way

thank you ... I am still confused as to why I abandoned the strategy with those stats. I guess it is the "grass is always greener elsewhere" kind of deal. no more system jumping. no more following alert services. they are no better than I am.

    Finding my way

annual return not so great. Reason is that I system jump too much. I am fully committed this year to stick to my short-fade strategy and focus. my average winner is 40% and losses are capped at 30%. Sometimes I do end up with a runaway winner like 80-100%. good luck, it works for me.

It seems the key rules to beating the market are these...

you left out short selling. I am a short sell specialist. But for whatever reason very few traders and even less investors will short. I personally increased my results BIG TIME when I added short selling a few years ago, even in the raging bull market.

Could it be THIS easy to beat the market?

my short answer... no it is not easy to beat the market. Many very skilled and experienced traders have tried. But that does not mean we do not try. I have had times when I beat the snot out of the market returns, but have failed to do so for an extended period.

    Fading the Gap

this is the only strategy I have used long term that has produced consistent returns. It is simple. I look for big movers premarket to the upside vs. their close the previous day. Using some simple indicators I buy puts when the ticker rolls over. You can do the opposite with those that are...

    Why I don't short

well, do not shut the door on any strategy. I have an edge for shorting. I use puts to keep maximum loss under 100%, you only need one runaway short to teach you that. For whatever reason I have a skill to find stocks that will go down in the short term. My win rate is 68% on shorts. there is...

    Finding my way

fortunately I keep a detailed spreadsheet of all my trades. I spent last weekend looking at all my trades from 2021. What I found is the very best trading I did last year in over 800 trades was the short sells I did. These are my own trades and were far more successful that any alert service I...

    MACD crossover screener

I have Trading view paid version and Finvez paid and cannot find for the life of me a scan that would show stocks that have Crossed MACD signal vs. MACD lines on a daily chart. Does anyone know how or some other site that I can do that on

    Bogus buyout announcements

I’m not in charge of these corporations and neither is anyone else on this board. But to me buying Palaton at this time at the end of Covid it’s like buying Hertz at the start of Covid. Their run is over as people are back out and the gyms are reopened

    Bogus buyout announcements

Well we’ll have to find out what I bet either company comes out and denies the rumor within the next few days. Look closely at the Wall Street Journal article from after hours yesterday and there’s no source at either company

    Bogus buyout announcements

The latest bogus by announcement is the after hours article Wall Street Journal yesterday stating a buyout of PTON by AMZN. This is very similar to their announcement of the buyout on PINS and KSS. in these articles they say “citing someone familiar with the matter“ of course they have no...
