Makes sense. Basically I am using a filter to find stocks which are trending are higher than average volume and are trending up or down on an intraday timeframe. It seems after looking at charts, the initial moves are often very direct and pull back very little.. vs the uptredningf stocks...

Well in theory yes. But if you are trading intraday, then it isnt an issue

I would seek out more specialized ones (financial only). They get better jobs I think. As for as chicago, I have no idea of specifics. I would start with your alumni though. Could be the best way to get advice and connections at the same time. Or family friends, etc.

from your responses it seems like a few of you are "momentum trading".. But the stocks many of you are trading are pretty cheap. I always thought momentum trading was dealing with more high flyiers moving on news/high volume? Am I wrong here?

haha. same thing happened to me yesterday. Made $790 on NTES (best day by far) trading it for first 5 minutes of the day with 300 and 600 share swings. .. It is much easier when on a simulator. Problem is everytime I switch back to real $$$ I dont do as well.
