    In-depth realtime volume indicators/alerts/scanning

Does anyone know of any software that offers some sort of realtime volume analysis? What I am looking for isnt the common "stocks trading X % volume above the 10 day average" (although helpful),. I am looking more bar analysis which includes alerts set up on stuff like x% more buying...

    Proprietary Trader - Market Maker?

Well Don's description of a MM is accurate, but dated. It has all changed since super soes and decimilization. I used to be MM b/4 they all but closed their doors. Now a few firms have a skeleton drew of Nasdaq MM's who more or less "oversee" the electronic trading and are assigned to...

    Traders having ADD?

Not to say what you posted is wrong, but everything you mentioned is common with all traders. Now ADD might AMPLIFY that (I have it also), but I have found that it has also helped a bit in a way. Many people with ADD have the great ability to really delve into and exceed at things they are...

    TopGun Software

No. I am using the price and volume % filters, along with 52 weak high and low filters to find a variety of stocks (about 50 a day). Then I load them into a tradestation algorithim which I am trying to get perfected to alert me to certain technical setups centered around decreased volatility.

    TopGun Software

I really like the filters they have. They have some very useful tools. Their proprietary indicators arent that useful for me at least. (Perhaps I am not incorporating them correctly.) But the staff seems pretty good for customer service, but sometimes assume you are a programmer when dealing...

    Indicators as exit signals?

Personally I use stop losses on exiting my final 3rd of my position. I am all about keeping the losses short adn letting the winners run. The obvious problem is many times being greedy on a winner causes a breakeven trade b/c follow through is much less than it used to be, IMO. I like to...

    Cant break in this business

I agree with this. I would also recommend as a 3rd option to newtowkr through freinds and family. Most guys at hedge funds that I have met are donkeys that got the job simply by knowing someone in the industry. (dad's country club buddy, or his older brother is in the business, etc) They...

How much do you make? How much do you think Market-makers make?

You have to remember that "Market Maker" is vague b/c it depends on the instrument. NAS is dead. Almost all wholeslaers shut their doors and a few places survive. These guys are lucky to make 100K and most will be out of jobs within 3 years. I used to be one, but stopped trying to hang on...

    Favorite Day-Trade Stocks

I dont buy this. NASDAQ MM's are extinct for the most part. ECN's have all the order flow. The days of MM's manipulating stocks are done and supersoes killed their edge. I know this b/c I was one.

    Favorite Day-Trade Stocks

good points. I trae NASDAQ b/c I was aNAS market maker for a few years so I felt more comfortable with them. Now I find most of my winning trades are in listed. There is obviously choppy and fake outs in both but I feel that listed might be easier. One theory I heard is that NAS is...

I am curious why it is so much harder to make $$ in NASDAQ? what is your opinion on it?

Shorting easier in general than going long?

Yes, intraday only... I am also inclinesd to think that after a runup, the psychological power of feeling pain, is more powerful, than the thrill of making on a long... hence when a stock starts to drop on heavy volume, more people pile in.
