    trading gold

Yes, gold has been, er, "difficult" for me. And silver is gold's idiot, bipolar, crackhead, cousin. I do like them as investments, however. Shiny, pretty stuff.

    Same As It Ever Was

Excellent post Chuck. Thanks. I have a young relative who wants to get tattoos. Her parents and I are against it. But now she's 18 and free to do it. I suppose that I have made many decisions in life that I later regretted, so that is one reason why my gut says, "no, don't do it." Also, I...

Double checking on the Iron Condor numbers I see....

Your first order entry shows a long IC. The Order Confirmation Dialog is showing a short IC. Which is +1400C - 1405C, +1320P -1315P. Debit spreads on either wing. Very low volume and OI for all of the strikes except the 1400C. Yeah, not likely filled for .25 for now.

Who/Why trade options at such extreme value.

That price traded on March 20th, when UAL was 25ish. That appears to be the first day that the option was listed. Maybe it was a seller? And the MM hedged long stock. Everybody's happy, as usual, and all is well in optionland:)

have you exercised options? tax implications how it is done

The easiest way to accomplish it would have been to sell the same strike put for the synthetic SSF. Eventually becomes shares unless there's pin risk. Some accounts may not allow this. In some cases, the ITM call may have a little extrinsic, but no market. You may not be able to get a fair...

    Who is the richest here?!

My parents said, "if you have your health, you have everything." That is, perhaps, easier for people with health problems to understand; than young, healthy people. As children, we certainly didn't get it. We have a friend, a retired airline pilot, who had a cerebral aneurysm. A tall and...

Does the US need a central bank (the FED)

Andrew Jackson. Withdrew Federal funds in 1833. The weakened 2nd Bank of the U.S. lasted until 1841. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_War

    Jokes 2

LOL. That would be me. I live out in the country. Only differences are more neighbors walking on MY road. And, when I go into town I wear a mask: even when I'm not robbing stuff.

CFTC warns Oil can turn Negative again!

The June contract was not "rolled" into the July contract. However, for some time now, the July contract has been the most liquid contract. I have an open June position and have been trading it for weeks. However, when I closed a June contract today, I could not reopen it, because IB now...

Margin and forced liquidation - please help

Yeah, it's just a generic message sent out to customers. It doesn't mean anything to OP. IB sends out messages to customers or a subset of customers automatically based on some criteria. The message may or may not apply to the trader. Or the message (like margin reqs.) may apply to any...
